\nPosition Overview
\nWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced\u00a0Country Bakery Manager\u00a0to lead and oversee the\u00a0operations of 42 bakery outlets across Zambia.\u00a0This strategic role is responsible for\u00a0driving performance,\u00a0ensuring\u00a0consistent product quality,\u00a0optimizing processes, and\u00a0leading\u00a0a\u00a0large team\u00a0of regional and store-level bakery staff. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of operational excellence, people leadership, and a passion for baked goods within a high-volume retail environment.
\nKey Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Operational Leadership<\/p>\n
Oversee daily operations of 42 bakery units across the country, ensuring consistency in quality, hygiene, and customer service.
\nDevelop and implement standardized operating procedures and production schedules.
\nMonitor and analyze bakery performance metrics, including sales, waste, and productivity.<\/p>\n
Team Management & Development<\/p>\n
Lead, mentor, and support regional bakery supervisors and store-level bakery teams.
\nConduct regular training programs to upskill staff on baking techniques, food safety, and customer service.
\nDrive a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.<\/p>\n
Financial & Strategic Oversight<\/p>\n
Manage bakery budgets, cost controls, and profitability targets.
\nCollaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery of ingredients and supplies.
\nIdentify growth opportunities, new product lines, and seasonal offerings to boost revenue.<\/p>\n
Compliance & Safety<\/p>\n
Enforce compliance with health and safety regulations, HACCP standards, and internal policies.
\nAddress operational risks and implement corrective actions where necessary.<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Engagement<\/p>\n
Liaise with store managers, regional operations teams, and executive leadership to align bakery goals with broader retail strategy.
\nRepresent the bakery division in cross-functional meetings and strategic planning sessions.<\/p>\n
Product Quality & Innovation<\/p>\n
Ensure all bakeries adhere to brand standards for taste, presentation, and freshness.
\nWork with R&D and marketing teams to develop and launch new baked products.
\nConduct regular site visits and audits to maintain quality assurance.<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Experience<\/p>\n
Minimum of\u00a08 years\u2019 experience in bakery operations, with at least\u00a03 years in a senior or multi-site management role.
\nProven track record in managing large teams and driving operational excellence.
\nStrong understanding of commercial baking, food safety standards, and retail dynamics.
\nDiploma or degree in Food Technology, Culinary Arts, Business Management, or related field.
\nExperience working in a grocery chain or FMCG environment is highly desirable.<\/p>\n
