That\u2019s how we continue to achieve extraordinary things in extraordinary locations.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nJob description:<br \/>\nBusiness attire<br \/>\nPurpose of the role<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nResettlement Officer\/ Specialist \u2013 to assist the team with complex medium to large-scale resettlement projects in line and compliant with IFC performance standards and Zambian legislation, authorities, and local context.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nJob &amp; Candidate Requirements\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nKey Responsibilities:<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nResettlement Action Plans (RAP):<\/p>\n<p>Develop and update Resettlement Action Plans in line with national and international standards.<br \/>\nCoordinate the design and implementation of resettlement programs to ensure minimal disruption to the affected communities.<br \/>\nIdentify and assess the needs of affected populations, including housing, land, and livelihood restoration.<br \/>\nFacilitate and lead survey team and process.<br \/>\nFamiliar with Zambian land tenure processes and challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Community Engagement and Consultation:<\/p>\n<p>Understand, respect and collaborate well with Traditional Leadership.<br \/>\nLead consultations with affected communities to understand their concerns, needs, and expectations.<br \/>\nFacilitate transparent communication between the project team and displaced persons.<br \/>\nCoordinate stakeholder engagement, including local authorities, NGOs, and other relevant parties.<\/p>\n<p>Livelihood Restoration:<\/p>\n<p>Ensure that compensation for displaced persons is fair, adequate, and timely.<br \/>\nOversee the development and implementation of livelihood restoration programs, training, and access to basic services.<br \/>\nEnsure the relocation process is smooth and that basic needs (housing, health, water, education) are met in the new location.<\/p>\n<p>Monitoring and Reporting:<\/p>\n<p>Monitor and evaluate resettlement activities, ensuring they meet the project\u2019s objectives and timelines.<br \/>\nPrepare detailed progress reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.<br \/>\nEnsure compliance with local laws, international resettlement guidelines (such as the World Bank or IFC standards), and the project\u2019s environmental and social commitments.<\/p>\n<p>Risk Management:<\/p>\n<p>Identify and mitigate risks associated with resettlement and displacement.<br \/>\nAddress and resolve conflicts or grievances arising from the resettlement process.<br \/>\nImplement effective measures to reduce negative impacts on displaced populations.<\/p>\n<p>Stakeholder Management:<\/p>\n<p>Liaise with government agencies, local authorities, and community organizations to ensure smooth implementation of resettlement activities.<br \/>\nMaintain effective relationships with project partners, local communities, and external agencies involved in resettlement.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications and Experience:<\/p>\n<p>Bachelor\u2019s degree or higher in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Environmental Management, or related fields.<br \/>\nFluent in Zambia North Western Province local languages.<br \/>\nAt least 8\/10 years of experience in resettlement in Zambia.<br \/>\nKnowledge of resettlement policies, legal frameworks, national authority, and international standards (such as World Bank and IFC policies).<br \/>\nStrong understanding of social safeguards, resettlement mechanisms, and livelihood restoration.<br \/>\nProven experience in stakeholder engagement and community consultation specific to resettlement and good governance.<br \/>\nExcellent communication and negotiation skills.<br \/>\nAbility to work in challenging environments and under pressure.<br \/>\nTechnical skills in project management, GIS, socioeconomic baseline survey development, management and analysis, monitoring &amp; evaluation, technical writing, and visual communication.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nBehavioral Traits Required:<\/p>\n<p>Team player with technical attention to detail.<br \/>\nRespectful to all.<br \/>\nHonest, sober, not flexible to non-compliance.<br \/>\nTrustworthy, expected to go the extra mile.<br \/>\nNot politically motivated or connected.<br \/>\nDiligent, professional, and respectful to all.<br \/>\nAny other please include normal stuff\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nOther Requirements:<\/p>\n<p>Driver license<\/p>\n<p>Sharing is Caring!
