{"id":5921,"date":"2025-10-22T14:02:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-22T14:02:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/zambia\/job\/chief-accountant-at-zcas-university\/"},"modified":"2025-11-06T00:14:23","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T00:14:23","slug":"chief-accountant-at-zcas-university","status":"expired","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/zambia\/?post_type=job_listing&p=5921","title":{"rendered":"Chief Accountant at ZCAS University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JOB OPPORTUNITY<br \/>\nZCAS University invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following position:<br \/>\nJOB TITLE: CHIEF ACCOUNTANT (1 POSITION)<br \/>\nJob Purpose: To provide strategic and operational leadership in the accounting function of ZCAS University by ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, sound internal controls, compliance with statutory obligations, and effective financial planning in support of the University\u2019s strategic objectives.<br \/>\nKey Responsibilities:<br \/>\nThe Chief Accountant will be responsible for, among other duties to:<br \/>\nPrepare monthly management accounts for review by the Chief Financial Officer.<br \/>\nReview and ensure accuracy of bank reconciliations and other control accounts.<br \/>\nOversee the month-end closing process, ensuring all cut-offs and accruals are properly effected.<br \/>\nLiaise with both internal and external auditors, ensuring timely completion of audits and resolution of audit findings.<br \/>\nSupervise, mentor, and manage the performance of accounting staff, including administering performance contracts and appraisals.<br \/>\nEnsure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including tax, pensions, and other remittances.<br \/>\nLead the process of budget consolidation and preparation of the draft annual budget for management and board consideration.<br \/>\nPrepare monthly cashflow projections and monitor liquidity to support operational and investment decisions.<br \/>\nStrengthen internal controls and accounting processes in line with best practices and University policies.<br \/>\nProvide technical accounting support and advice to management and other departments.<br \/>\nQualifications and Experience<br \/>\nFull professional qualification in ACCA, CIMA, or CA Zambia (CAZ).<br \/>\nA Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.<br \/>\nAt least 10 years of progressive work experience in accounting and finance, with a minimum of 4 years at managerial level.<br \/>\nPrior experience in an Audit firm at Manager level will be an added advantage.<br \/>\nStrong knowledge of IFRS, budgeting, and financial reporting standards.<br \/>\nDemonstrated ability to lead teams, meet deadlines, and maintain high levels of integrity and accuracy.<br \/>\nProficiency in different accounting packages.<br \/>\nMember of ZICA.<br \/>\nKey Competencies and Attributes<br \/>\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.<br \/>\nExcellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.<br \/>\nHigh attention to detail and professional judgment.<br \/>\nProficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.<br \/>\nCommitment to continuous improvement and institutional excellence.<br \/>\nSharing is Caring!
