\nThe\u00a0key purpose\u00a0of this role is to provide the plant with a comprehensive and professional environment and occupational health and safety system. Ensuring compliance to environment and safety systems, standards and work practices to achieve targets set for the VPO environment and safety pillars as well as the environment and safety KPI\u2019s.

Maintain safe healthy and risk free working environment
\nEnsure safety, healthy & environmental legislation compliance
\nEnsure compliance the VPO Standards for the environment and safety pillars
\nMaintain safety and housekeeping standards Manage Human Resources
\nDevelop employees based on identified needs through OPR sessions
\nEnsure a healthy industrial relations climate \u2022 Manage technical pipeline for key roles in safety and environment team
\nLeads the management and implementation of the Safety and Environment VPO Pillar in the plant
\nEnsure requirements of all 23 Blocks of the Safety Pillar are implemented
\nPerforms Safety and environment monitoring and audits
\nPerforms regular VPO Safety and environment Pillars\u2019 audits and reviews using the Pillar Questionnaires
\nPerforms legal Compliance Audit
\nMonitors and analyses leading and lagging Safety and environment KPI\u2019s and implements interventions to improve
\nEnsures all Safety and environment Incidents and Observations are captured and reported in Credit360
\nManage the problem solving process to ensure all Safety and environment accidents\/incidents are captured and reported in Credit360 and escalated as per VPO requirements
\nEnsures all efficient and effective problem solving and implementation of loop closure for all Safety and environment\/accidents reported in Cr360 as per VPO requirements
\nEnsures optimum use of Safety App or equivalent system to raise Safety and environment Incidents and Observations
\nPerforms Loss and waste analysis on Safety and environment Incident and Observations
\nDevelops an action plan to close SIO\u2019s based on priority
\nPerforms safety and environment monitoring using the Supervisor or Managers Check Lists Leads the safety and environment strategies as per VPO-Safety and environment Pillars
\nImplement Behavioral Safety Program at all levels
\nImplement focused safety and environment interventions for critical\/priority blocks
\nApply relevant Safety and environment Standards & SOPs
\nDevelops and coordinate Safety and environment Investment Programme
\nImplement Safety and Environment VPO and associated GOP\u2019s
\nManage progress according to glide paths set and agreed

\nTrain all TL\u2019s and UM\u2019s on department-specific safety & environment requirements
\nEnsure effective induction, training and awareness for new employee, service providers and Contractors
\nIdentify environment and safety legal training needs, arrange and co-ordinate training program Business Continuity & Risk Management
\nDevelop and standardize system emergency and disaster recovery (BCP) plans for plant
\nDevelops and implements approaches to mitigate obsolescence
\nEnsure sharing of best practices for Safety and environment management
\nEnsures implementation of Ammonia Process, Steam Process, Dust Process and Electrical Process Safety Management programs
\nManage Safety, Upholding (UPP) and Cost CAPEX portfolios
\nEnsure a 3 year plan exists for, \u2013 Maintenance and replacement of Plant Equipment across Sites \u2013 Maintenance and replacement of C&A infrastructure due to obsolescence
\nIndicate primary challenges presented by this job and the kinds of decision that the position is expected to make
\nEnsure conformance to specifications and standards
\nLead the establishment of a SAFETY FIRST culture through implementation of behavioral safety program
\nEnsure delivery of results through implementation of VPO standards and relevant safety and environment SOPs
\nManage departmental Budget \/ Finances
\nLead safety in site projects execution defining minimum requirements at all stages and monitoring compliance during planning and execution thereof
\nLead the establishment of a capacitance engineering capability
\nManage the Safety and Environment function including Operations and Maintenance of Effluent tank and screen
\nLead the elimination of all identified safety and environment risks through sharing safety alerts and driving closure of identified gaps from problem solving and incident and accident\u00a0investigations.
\nCreate a Safety and environment awareness through planned and unplanned campaigns such as World environment\/Safety day activities
\nLead the risk management program, comprising of occupational health and safety and risk management
\nEnsure plant\u2019s legal compliance and adherence to legal standards\/regulations
\nPeople Management Facilitate team problem solving and decision making
\nLead the Safety and environment team in a manner that engenders ownership, empowerment and team interaction
\nLead the development of Safety and environment team goals and ensure these are communicated and understood by team members
\nConduct regular Safety and environment team goal review sessions
\nEnsure training need analyses are conducted and training plans developed for team members
\nEnsure appropriate competencies are developed in the team, and ensure cross-skilling occurs within the Safety and environment team<\/p>\n

3-year appropriate tertiary qualification
\nTertiary qualification in Safety and environment Management and Auditing
\nMinimum 3-5 years\u2019 experience in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods environment

\n3-5 years\u2019 experience in either Safety\/environment Facilitator or Controller role<\/p>\n
