Reporting to Senior Metallurgist Technical, the Technical Metallurgist will play a key role in overseeing and optimizing plant performance while driving cost-effective operational outcomes. This position is responsible for supporting safe and efficient metallurgical operations, ensuring compliance with site policies, environmental standards, and operational targets. The role will focus on monitoring and improving metallurgical processes, driving automation effectiveness, supporting change management initiatives, and contributing to continuous improvement across plant operations.
\nYour duties will include but are not limited to the following:<\/p>\n
Promote and comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Policy.\u00a0
\nEnsure personnel are adequately inducted in their work area and are aware of all workplace rules and critical procedures and contribute to site safety policy and new initiatives as directed by management.
\nApply metallurgical systems to achieve planned plant utilization and recovery targets.
\nCollect and analyze information to assess performance statistics, statutory requirements and systems efficiency.\u00a0
\nAssist the Senior metallurgist with implementation of change management initiatives and other business improvement projects.
\nMonitor plant performance against key performance indicators for variances and trends.
\nMonitor all stages of the metallurgical process to allow adjustments to process controls to enhance plant performance.
\nMonitor the content and discharge of process tailings to comply with environmental management obligations.
\nDrive process automation and controller utilization above 90%
\nAssist the Senior Metallurgist in developing and improving metallurgical systems to ensure optimal plant utilization and recovery.
\nEnsure the regular review of metallurgical processes and investigate, assess and where appropriate, try new methods or technology.
\nEnsure onstream analysers are calibrated and are in good working order.<\/p>\n
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n
Full Grade 12 School Certificate
\nMinimum of Degree in Metallurgy or Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering.
\nMinimum of 2 years\u2019 experience in large copper concentrators
\nExperience and knowledge of PI vision, PI data link and SCADA is an added advantage.
\nExcellent Knowledge of computers, Microsoft office package and power point (Excel & Word processing)
\nGood communication skills.
\nWillingness to learn and adaptable.<\/p>\n
