\nJob Purpose
\nProvides strategic and operational support to the Head \u2013 Legal and Company Secretary, ensuring effective execution of departmental priorities across all banking functions. The role supervises Legal Managers and Officers and ensures timely delivery of outputs aligned with regulatory and business expectations.
\nUnder the supervision of the Head \u2013 Legal and Company Secretary, the following are among the key responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities
\nLeadership & Management
\n\u25a0 Act as deputy to the Head \u2013 Legal in managing day-to-day legal operations.\u25a0 Mentor and coach Legal Managers and Officers, fostering professional growth and high performance.
\nStrategic Execution
\n\u25a0 Translate legal strategy into structured work plans and monitor implementation.\u25a0 Liaise with other departments within the Bank to ensure legal alignment with organizational objectives.
\nPerformance Monitoring & Reporting
\n\u25a0 Track departmental KPIs and prepare consolidated reports for ALCO, Risk, NRG, and Board Committees.\u25a0 Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality of legal outputs.
\nLegal Documentation & Advisory
\n\u25a0 Review legal documentation prior to escalation to the Head \u2013 Legal or external counsel.\u25a0 Support legal risk monitoring across credit, treasury, operations, and digital banking.
\nQuality Assurance
\n\u25a0 Conduct quality reviews of legal outputs to ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency, and recommend process improvements.<\/p>\n

Qualifications and Experience
\n\u25a0 LLB or equivalent legal qualification; Advocate of the High Court preferred.\u25a0 Minimum 8\u201310 years\u2019 experience in banking law, litigation, credit documentation, and regulatory compliance.\u25a0 Demonstrated leadership in managing legal teams and delivering regulator-ready outputs.\u25a0 Must be a member in good standing of the Law Association of Zambia.
