\nJob Purpose
\nThe Information Technology Department is a strategic enabler of the Bank\u2019s operations, ensuring seamless integration of technology with business objectives. This is a Senior Management role responsible for defining and implementing the Bank\u2019s IT strategy in alignment with corporate goals, managing IT infrastructure, solutions, and operations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and security standards. The position oversees IT risk management of the Bank, vendor relationships, and drives innovation to support digital transformation initiatives while ensuring system uptime and security.
\nUnder the supervision of the Managing Director, the following are among the key responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities
\nIT Leadership and Strategy
\n\u25a0 Define and implement the Bank\u2019s IT strategy in close alignment with management objectives and Board directives.\u25a0 Conduct the Bank\u2019s IT affairs in an effective, responsible, and ethical manner consistent with strategic plans.\u25a0 Implement policies and strategies approved by the Board and communicate them to relevant staff.\u25a0 Prepare and manage the annual IT budget, ensuring cost optimization and monthly review\/reporting.\u25a0 Provide the Board and shareholders with timely and relevant IT reports, including IT status updates.\u25a0 Ensure successful roll-out of IT projects within agreed timelines and budgets.\u25a0 Maintain sufficient IT staff and develop annual Learning & Development and Performance Appraisal plans for direct subordinates.
\nIT Operations and Infrastructure
\n\u25a0 Ensure 100% system uptime and overall monitoring, follow-up, expansion, and management of the Bank\u2019s IT portfolio.\u25a0 Guarantee delivery of IT infrastructure, solutions, and operational services, including continuous improvement initiatives.\u25a0 Manage in-house development of IT solutions in line with Enterprise Architecture principles.\u25a0 Oversee deployment of global IT solutions and ensure compliance with related local regulations.\u25a0 Extend guidance to branches and Head Office departments on IT-related matters.\u25a0 Introduce new IT products and digital solutions to enhance banking operations.
\nCompliance and Risk Management
\n\u25a0 Ensure adherence to Enterprise Architecture, Information Technology, and Information Security principles, policies, and standards.\u25a0 Guarantee compliance with Bank policies, standards, procedures, and local legislation\/regulations, including IT provisions in the Banking and Financial Services Act and directives from the Bank of Zambia.\u25a0 Conduct revolving reviews of IT-related business risk areas and implement mitigation measures.\u25a0 Define and implement IT continuity plans and related procedures.\u25a0 Ensure security of IT infrastructure and compliance with software licensing requirements.
\nPerformance and People Management
\n\u25a0 Manage IT team performance and oversee Information Security office reporting to the Managing Director.\u25a0 Obtain, develop, and maintain staff capable of achieving IT function goals and supporting strategic objectives.\u25a0 Foster collaboration across all levels of the organization to optimize business processes.<\/p>\n
Required Skills and Attributes
\n\u25a0 Strategic and operational planning and control.\u25a0 Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.\u25a0 Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.\u25a0 Knowledge of banking solutions, digital channels, cybersecurity, and procurement processes.\u25a0 Ability to align business and technology in financial services.<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Experience
\n\u25a0 Bachelor\u2019s degree in computing, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field.\u25a0 MBA or equivalent is an added advantage.\u25a0 Minimum 12 years\u2019 experience heading and managing the IT department\u2019s operations, infrastructure and information security in a financial institution.\u25a0 Professional certifications such as COBIT, ITIL, ISO, or other relevant IT certifications.\u25a0 Familiarity with banking solutions, digital product integration, and cybersecurity.\u25a0 Willingness to travel internationally.\u25a0 Must be a full Member or fellow of ICTAZ.
