Our client, specialized in large-scale cultivation of staple crops (corn, wheat) and cash crops is looking for a Farm Assistant to join their team.
\nJob Purpose
\nThe Farm Assistant will support the effective day-to-day operations of the farm. The role requires hands-on agricultural work, monitoring of farm activities, and assisting in planning, record-keeping, and marketing to ensure productivity, sustainability, and profitability of the farm.
\nKey Responsibilities
\nCrop Cultivation & Management<\/p>\n
Assist in managing day-to-day farm operations, including land preparation, crop planting and irrigation.
\nMonitor crop growth and identify pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies.
\nMaintain farm tools, machinery, and irrigation systems used in crop production.
\nKeep records of planting schedules, yields, and input usage.<\/p>\n
Animal Husbandry & Livestock Management<\/p>\n
Support daily care of livestock, including feeding, watering, cleaning, and general welfare.
\nMonitor animal health and report illnesses, injuries, or unusual behaviour.
\nAssist with breeding, vaccination, deworming, and other livestock health programmes.
\nMaintain cleanliness of animal housing and ensure compliance with animal welfare standards.
\nKeep basic livestock records such as feeding, treatments, births, and mortalities.<\/p>\n
Agribusiness & Farm Operations Support<\/p>\n
Assist in planning farm activities to align production with market demand.
\nSupport harvesting, storage, packaging, and preparation of produce for sale.
\nAssist with sales, customer engagement, and basic marketing of farm products.
\nMonitor stock levels of farm inputs and assist with procurement planning.
\nSupport budgeting, cost control, and basic financial record-keeping for farm activities.<\/p>\n
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance<\/p>\n
Adhere to farm safety policies and proper use of protective equipment.
\nEnsure compliance with environmental, health, and agricultural regulations.
\nPromote sustainable farming practices and responsible use of farm resources.<\/p>\n
General Duties<\/p>\n
Assist in supervising casual or seasonal farm workers when required.
\nCarry out general farm maintenance tasks, including fencing and repairs.
\nPerform any other duties related to farm operations as assigned by management.<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Experience<\/p>\n
Diploma in General Agriculture, Animal Science, Agribusiness, or a related field.
\nAt least 2 years practical experience in crop production and livestock management.
\nKnowledge of basic agribusiness principles and farm record-keeping.
\nAbility to operate basic farm equipment and tools.<\/p>\n
