\nScope of the Role
\nResponsible for overseeing and managing the financial actions of the university. Their role is both strategic and operational, including planning, risk management, and decision-making. The role supports the financial stewardship of the university, aligning financial practices regulations and ethical standards. The position not only demands financial and strategic expertise but also a strong alignment with the institution\u2019s mission, values, and commitment to stewardship
\nResponsibilities
\n1. Financial Reporting and Transparency
\n\u2022 Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for all ACU operations including ACU investments
\n\u2022 Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results to internal and external stakeholders.
\n\u2022 Overseeing the preparation of income statements, balance sheets, and financial reports.
\n2. Budget Planning and Resource Allocation.
\n\u2022 Manage cashflow and ensure the institution has adequate funding to
\nmeet its obligations
\n\u2022 Timely preparation of annual budgets and implementation of the
\nbudgetary review process
\n3. Strategic Planning and Institutional Growth
\n\u2022 Provide financial analysis to support key internal stakeholders
\n\u2022 Develop long-term financial strategies, forecasts, and budgets.
\n4. Tuition Aid and Donor Stewardship
\n\u2022 Oversee tuition pricing, financial aid strategy, and donor fund
\nmanagement.
\n\u2022 Preparing fund utilization reports for accountability
\n5. Risk Management and Compliancy
\n\u2022 Risk management including developing and maintaining financial
\npolicies and procedures
\n\u2022 Ensure legal and regulatory compliance (ZRA, NAPSA, NHIMA, HEA),
\nincluding federal financial aid, accreditation requirements, and faithbased
\nexemptions.
\n\u2022 Identify and manage financial risks
\n\u2022 Oversee systems to prevent fraud, ensure accuracy, and promote
\noperational efficiency
\n\u2022 Overseeing the audit process, ensuring all requirements are provided.
\n6. Collaboration With Missions Aligned Stakeholders
\n\u2022 Manage relationships with external stakeholders including auditors,
\nbanks, regulators and others
\n\u2022 Providing financial information for decision making and reporting.
\n\u2022 Presenting audited financial statements to a church-affiliated board or
\nparent denomination.
\n\u2022 Work closely with advancement, admissions, and student life
\ndepartments to integrate finances with ministry and academic goals.
\n7. Team Leadership and Ethical Culture.
\n\u2022 Supervision of subordinate staff and setting up KPIs
\n\u2022 Overseeing all finance department operations
\n\u2022 Implementing a company-wide expense policy and audit protocols
\n8. Mission Driven Financial Stewardship
\n\u2022 Monitoring and tracking of all funds from donations to ensure that the
\nrelated expenses are accounted for accurately.
\n\u2022 Ensure that all financial decisions reflect the university\u2019s Christian
\nmission and values.
\n\u2022 Communicate financial performance and strategy this includes
\nquarterly presentations to the abord and other stakeholders when
\nneeded.
\nQualifications
\nThe applicant should have the following qualifications:
\n\u2013 Full grade 12 certificates
\n\u2013 A bachelor\u2019s in accounting with full professional qualifications such as
\nCIMA\/ACCA\/CPA
\n\u2013 Paid up member of Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA)
\n\u2013 Minimum 3 (three) years post qualifying work experience
\nCompetencies and Attributes
\n\u2013 Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
\n\u2013 Experience in fund accounting and financial reporting tools
\n\u2013 Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
\n\u2013 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
\n\u2013 Excellent computer skills and experience in using accounting packages
\n\u2013 Honest, reliable, and able to work under pressure
