The role of the Locomotive Technician\/Mechanic is to ensure that our locomotives are in peak operating condition and comply with all safety standards and regulations.<br \/>\nResponsibilities<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Inspect locomotives to identify malfunctions or damage<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, wheel replacements, and brake adjustments<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Diagnose and repair mechanical problems using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Replace defective parts as necessary<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Test locomotives to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety standards<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Coordinate with other team members to ensure timely completion of tasks<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Comply with all safety and regulatory guidelines<br \/>\nExperience and Qualifications<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0At least 3 years proven work experience as a Locomotive Mechanic\/Technician or similar role<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Knowledge of mechanical systems and locomotive components<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical\/Technical \u00a0problems and hands-on and analytical mindset<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and a team player<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Strong experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance experience in GM\/EMD locomotives an added advantage<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Proven knowledge of\u00a0control systems and electrical safety<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Certification from a vocational school, College or University<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Good communication skills in English, Bemba and Nyanja<br \/>\nAdditional Information<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Work Environment:\u00a0This role primarily works in a locomotive workshop or rail yard.
