Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, the production and marketing of sugar and other sugar downstream products.<br \/>\nThe company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions in the Estate Support Services Department.<br \/>\n1. OCUPATIONAL HEALTH NURSE x 2 \u2013 PERMANENT<br \/>\nThis position will be reporting to the Nursing Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:<br \/>\nKey Responsibilities<br \/>\n\u00b7 Practice Occupational Health Nursing within a team of professionals that includes, but is not limited to the Ergonomist, Hygienist, Occupational Medical Practitioner, Human Resources, Employee Assistant Programme (EAP) Practitioners, Line Managers and SHERQ.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Ensure relevant Occupational Health legislation and regulatory standards, systems, processes and requirements are met.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Promote cross-functional and stakeholder engagement &amp; teamwork<br \/>\n\u00b7 Model Leadership behaviors, collaborating, partnering and communicating effectively within and between teams and support functions<br \/>\n\u00b7 Promote a culture of consistently assessing risks and drive continuous improvement<br \/>\n\u00b7 Manage employee healthcare needs in the occupational health environment within the scope of professional ethical norms.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Conduct all statutory pre-employment, periodic and exit medical exams and prepare fitness for work certificates<br \/>\n\u00b7 Ensure that employees are physically and mentally able to undertake the work for which they are being employed for.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Manage prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of work-related illnesses and injury within the business<br \/>\n\u00b7 Assess and monitor clinical interventions to ensure optimum safety for employees with high-risk medical conditions.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Identify the need for Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for the following health related issues: HIV, STI, alcoholism, substance abuse, chronic diseases, psychosocial conditions, shift work, violence and executive health management.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Perform specific screening tests and other identified examinations for the identification of potential occupational diseases and injuries, including but not limited to, audiometry, spirometer, vision screening and biological monitoring.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Maintain confidentiality in matters related to employees, family and medical facility staff.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Promote health education on disease prevention, healthy lifestyle choices and hazards in the workplace including training on the use of PPE (hearing protective devices)<br \/>\n\u00b7 Execution of the necessary health risk management and medical surveillance activities, assessing and recommending appropriate mitigating measures<br \/>\n\u00b7 Compile Occupational Risk Exposure Profiles (OREP) at pre-employment, periodic and exit levels of interventions using information gathered during the risk assessments.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Participate in the formal and informal auditing of occupational health services in respect of quality, closing out of gaps and corrective actions, responsiveness to issues, management of medical records, and ensuring data capture is done to the required standard.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Participate in Health and Safety audits, investigations and meetings (monthly site and Group Safety meetings)<br \/>\n\u00b7 Ensure adequate follow-up of all Injury on Duty (IOD) cases.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Attend to referrals from Line managers, SHERQ or HR on sick leave absence, work-related ill health, or stress and respond to them in a timely manner<br \/>\n\u00b7 Participate in on-site emergency response drills and exercises organised by the SHERQ team.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Perform regular interactive Gemba Walks in the workplace to get insights into common occupational health and safety hazards and employee behaviours.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Ensure that all Occupational Health equipment is calibrated and serviced as recommended<br \/>\n\u00b7 Adequately manage all resourced allocated to the Occupational Health (Human Resources, equipment, and consumables)<br \/>\n\u00b7 Perform regular (monthly) inspections of first aid boxes in the workplace to ensure that they contain the prescribed minimum contents. Co-ordinate refresher training of first aiders<br \/>\n\u00b7 Ensure a continuous supply and availability of supplies, equipment, and consumables regarding medical screenings.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Elaborate monthly Occupational Health reports including Injuries on Duty and other related Occupational Health indicators.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Manage and coordinate sharing of identified best practices, frameworks and minimum standards<br \/>\n\u00b7 Maintain competence and appropriate certifications required to conduct occupational health testing.<br \/>\nQualifications and Experience<br \/>\n\u00b7 Full grade 12 Certificate.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Registered Nursing Diploma<br \/>\n\u00b7 Certification in Occupational Health<br \/>\n\u00b7 Certification in Audiometry and Spirometry is an advantage<br \/>\n\u00b7 Preferably 3 years of working experience in a similar occupational health environment<br \/>\n\u00b7 Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ)<br \/>\n\u00b7 Emergency Care \/ Trauma experience will be an advantage<br \/>\n\u00b7 Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation<br \/>\n\u00b7 Client service skills, active listening skills, sensitivity and understanding, pay attention to detail<br \/>\n\u00b7 Good verbal and written communication skills<br \/>\n\u00b7 Knowledge of environmental and health hazards within the workplace<br \/>\n\u00b7 Basic computer skills<br \/>\n\u00b7 Driver\u2019s license<br \/>\n\u00b7 Suitably qualified applicants must provide certificates verified by Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).<br \/>\nSharing is Caring!
