Job Description
\nTo safely execute Electrical maintenance & installation work according to prescribed standards and statutory requirements.
\nInstallation<\/p>\n
Installation of new electrical systems, replacement of old, faulty or redundant Electrical systems as per the Company and vendor\u2019s safety and quality specifications.
\nDevelop and Refine Electrical Designs. Collaborate with other disciplines and areas for constructability and compliance.
\nElectrical protection
\nEnsure and document all electrical safety settings to conform to safety requirements.
\nEnsure that all electrical equipment have the correct hardware interlock and safety parameter settings for effective and safe operation.
\nCoordinate and lead electrical compliance tests in collaboration with Maintenance Supervisor\u2019s, and assist in compiling the Bi-Annual report for submission to the Mine Safety Department.<\/p>\n
Maintenance<\/p>\n
Adhere to the companies planned and preventative maintenance schedules and procedures.
\nEffectively maintain the electrical equipment with the minimum effect on the plant production.
\nReview & improve PM Tasks to optimize and improve the maintenance strategy
\nOversee that all electrical maintenance according to the company schedules are done by the relevant sub ordinates
\nSupport the GMD Specialist in managing backups and software updates for Protection Relays, Variable Speed Drives, Simocodes, and other Controllers.<\/p>\n
Reporting and record keeping.<\/p>\n
Compile a detailed report on all activities, plans, costs and labour.
\nReport all incidents immediately to the Superintendent.
\nStock Control
\nEnsure that stock levels of electrical equipment are maintained in the warehouse<\/p>\n
Create new stock for all critical items to ensure minimum effect on production in the event of a failure.
\nCompile, Review and optimize Critical Spares lists for the Electrical Section to ensure availability of stock and mitigation of downtime<\/p>\n
Tools and audit.<\/p>\n
Oversee the correct and safe usage of all hand tools within your section
\nRecord and control all replacement of tools.
\nOversee the maintain the highest safety standard on the condition and usage of all electrical test equipment
\nTraining and development.
\nIdentify needs for specialised training requirements within your area.
\nAssist in the development and implementation of the Proficiency Framework for Electricians<\/p>\n
Other duties<\/p>\n
Contribute to the development and ongoing improvement of SWIs and SOPs, ensuring alignment with best practices and safety standards.
\nOffer technical support to Maintenance and Shift Supervisors, assisting in fault diagnosis, system optimization, and operational decision-making
\nAny other duties as directed by the Electrical Superintendent.<\/p>\n
Qualifications<\/p>\n
Full Grade 12 Certificate.
\nDegree in Electrical Engineering
\nEIZ & ERB Registered
\nValid LV Driver\u2019s License.<\/p>\n
Experience<\/p>\n
Minimum TWO years\u2019 experience in a Mining environment working as an Engineer
\nKnowledge of LV systems, MCC\u2019s and Protection.
\nKnowledge of LV and MV Transformers
\nKnowledge of Siemens Gearless Mill Drives
\nMaintenance of Electrical motors
\nMaintenance of Overhead cranes.
\nKnowledge of Variable Speed Drives, Soft Starters and DOL Starters
\nGood knowledge on the use of Electrical Measuring Instruments.
\nReading electrical drawings
\nComputer literate.
\nAny Leadership or Supervisory Training courses.
\nProficient in Pronto or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).<\/p>\n
