The Company is owned 100% by the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). It is located in Kawambwa District, Luapula Province, and is one of Zambia\u2019s oldest and most iconic agro-processing establishments. KTIL specializes in the production of high-quality black tea and related products and continues to play a strategic role in agricultural industrialization, rural employment creation, and value addition in Zambia\u2019s tea sub-sector.<br \/>\nA vacancy to fill the following position has arisen:<br \/>\nGENERAL MANAGER<br \/>\nJob Purpose<br \/>\nThe General Manager (GM) shall act on behalf of the Board of Directors in alignment with the policies, vision, mission, and core values of Kawambwa Tea Industries Limited (KTIL). The GM shall provide transformational leadership, strategic oversight, and operational direction to ensure that the Company\u2019s strategies are effectively implemented for sustainable growth, profitability, and long-term competitiveness in the agro-processing sector.<br \/>\nKey Roles and Responsibilities<br \/>\n1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Strategic Leadership<\/p>\n<p>Provide visionary and transformative leadership to drive institutional performance, operational excellence, and a high-performance culture.<br \/>\nEnsure effective implementation of KTIL\u2019s strategic plan, aligning departmental activities with corporate priorities and industry best practices.<br \/>\nChampion innovation, business transformation, and sustainable agricultural practices to enhance KTIL\u2019s market position.<br \/>\nPromote adherence to corporate policies, statutory requirements, and sector-specific regulatory frameworks.<br \/>\nEstablish and maintain a safe, productive, and inclusive working environment in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Financial Management<\/p>\n<p>Oversee the Company\u2019s financial sustainability by ensuring sound liquidity, profitability, and cost management.<br \/>\nProvide executive oversight in the preparation and submission of annual operational and capital budgets for Board approval.<br \/>\nMonitor financial performance and provide quarterly reports to the Board, including variance analyses and corrective action measures.<br \/>\nEnsure strict adherence to approved accounting standards, audit requirements, procurement regulations, and financial reporting obligations.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Corporate Strategy and Policy Oversight<\/p>\n<p>Translate KTIL\u2019s vision and mission into actionable strategies that enhance growth, competitiveness, and market expansion.<br \/>\nOversee development, implementation, and periodic review of policies, procedures, and operational frameworks across all business units.<br \/>\nGuide the modernization and optimization of tea processing operations, agricultural production systems, and value-chain integration.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Governance, Risk, and Compliance<\/p>\n<p>Strengthen governance systems that uphold transparency, accountability, ethical conduct, and effective internal controls.<br \/>\nOversee risk management frameworks to identify, mitigate, and monitor operational, financial, strategic, and market risks.<br \/>\nCoordinate internal and external audit processes and ensure timely implementation of recommendations.<br \/>\nDevelop and maintain Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans to safeguard operations.<br \/>\nEnsure comprehensive insurance coverage and enterprise-wide risk mitigation measures.<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Board and Stakeholder Relations<\/p>\n<p>Maintain a productive working relationship with the Board of Directors, ensuring timely and accurate submission of reports, proposals, and updates to support effective decision-making.<br \/>\nCollaborate with the Board Chairperson to ensure strategic alignment of Board activities, meetings, and resolutions.<br \/>\nBuild and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders including tea out-growers, cooperatives, suppliers, distributors, regulators, local communities, and the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC).<br \/>\nRepresent KTIL in sectoral forums and government engagements to advance the Company\u2019s strategic interests.<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Marketing, Business Development &amp; Value Chain Enhancement<\/p>\n<p>Lead the development and execution of marketing, brand positioning, and market penetration strategies for KTIL products.<br \/>\nEnsure customer satisfaction, product quality consistency, and responsiveness to market feedback.<br \/>\nIdentify and pursue new business opportunities, product diversification initiatives, and export market potential.<br \/>\nBuild alliances with agricultural value-chain actors to promote supply chain stability, including out-grower schemes.<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Operational Excellence &amp; Human Capital Management<\/p>\n<p>Ensure efficient, high-quality tea processing operations through implementation of modern manufacturing, agricultural, and sustainability practices.<br \/>\nStrengthen performance management systems and drive a culture of accountability, productivity, and continuous improvement.<br \/>\nPromote staff development, talent retention, and compliance with labour laws and HR policy frameworks.<br \/>\nEnsure alignment of human resource practices with KTIL\u2019s operational needs and long-term business strategy.<\/p>\n<p>QUALIFICATIONS<br \/>\nRequired<\/p>\n<p>Grade 12 Certificate.<br \/>\nBachelor\u2019s Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Food Science, Business Administration, Production Management, or relevant field.<br \/>\nMaster\u2019s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Agriculture, Agribusiness, or related field will be an added advantage.<br \/>\nProfessional Membership to a relevant institution.<br \/>\nMinimum of 10 years of senior management experience in agribusiness, manufacturing, agro-processing, FMCG or relevant sector.<\/p>\n<p>Skill Specifications<\/p>\n<p>Strategic planning, execution, and business transformation.<br \/>\nFinancial analysis, forecasting, and corporate budgeting.<br \/>\nStakeholder engagement and relationship management.<br \/>\nRisk identification, management, and mitigation.<br \/>\nGovernance, compliance, and regulatory oversight.<br \/>\nOperational management in manufacturing or agro-processing.<br \/>\nAgricultural value-chain management (desirable).<\/p>\n<p>Sharing is Caring!
