All positions are on a full-time basis.<br \/>\n9. LECTURER \u2013 OPHTHALMOLOGY<br \/>\nJob purpose:<br \/>\nTo provide high-quality teaching, research, community engagement, and clinical care in Ophthalmology. The position supports the training of competent health professionals, advances knowledge through research, and strengthens eye care services in collaboration with teaching hospitals and partner institutions.<br \/>\nKey responsibilities:<br \/>\nDeliver high-quality lectures, tutorials, and practical or clinical teaching sessions in Ophthalmology.<br \/>\nSupervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in research projects and clinical training where applicable.<br \/>\nParticipate in the development, review, and implementation of curricula in line with professional and regulatory standards.<br \/>\nConduct scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed journals.<br \/>\nContribute to departmental, school, and institutional service activities.<br \/>\nParticipate in community engagement and professional outreach activities relevant to ophthalmic care.<br \/>\nComplete a recognised medical education or teaching methodology programme within two years of employment.<br \/>\nQualifications and experience:<br \/>\nGrade 12 Certificate with five credits including English, Mathematics, and Science.<br \/>\nMinimum of a Master\u2019s Degree in Medicine or completion of a recognised Specialty Training Programme (STP-ZACOMS) or equivalent qualification.<br \/>\nA PhD or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.<br \/>\nMedical degree (MBChB or equivalent) from a recognised institution.<br \/>\nAll academic qualifications must be certified and validated by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).<br \/>\nValid practising licence and registration with the relevant professional regulatory body, where applicable.<br \/>\nDemonstrated teaching experience at tertiary level.<br \/>\nEvidence of research activity and publications in peer-reviewed journals.<br \/>\nStrong communication, mentorship, and teamwork skills.<br \/>\nKey competencies:<br \/>\nStrong subject matter knowledge in Ophthalmology.<br \/>\nAbility to effectively teach both theoretical and practical or clinical courses.<br \/>\nResearch capability with demonstrable scholarly output.<br \/>\nStudent supervision, mentoring, and academic advising skills.<br \/>\nStrong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.<br \/>\nAbility to work collaboratively within an academic and clinical environment.<br \/>\nComputer literacy, including use of learning management systems and standard office applications.<br \/>\nSharing is Caring!
