\nThe Assistant Accountant \u2013 Retail Finance reports to the Manager Retail Finance and ensures sound financial management of the Collective Investment Schemes (CIS) by upholding accounting standards, monitoring financial performance, and ensuring accuracy across all models and transactions. The role serves as the primary finance contact for the CIS portfolio and ensures full compliance with SEC and ZRA requirements, including timely resolution of audit issues. Additionally, the role liaises with internal stakeholders to ensure timely payment of CIS claims, prepares monthly and quarterly performance reports with actionable recommendations, and maintains secure and organised accounting records.<\/p>\n
Principal Accountabilities:
\n\u00a0
\n1. Finance Accounting<\/p>\n
Ensure that all CIS accounting processes and procedures are followed as stipulated in the accounting manual.
\nMonitor company financial performance to ensure that all the CIS units are meeting their revenue plans.
\nEnsure that error-free an environment is maintained for all accounting transactions.
\nVerify accuracy of the accounting models and input data used in preparation of management accounts and financial statements.
\nAct as a point of contact for all matters relating to CIS finance portfolio of each unit trust
\nConduct any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.<\/p>\n

\n2. \u00a0Compliance<\/p>\n
Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations (SEC and ZRA).
\nProvide management responses to all audit queries and ensure resolution and closure of all outstanding audit issues within agreed timelines.<\/p>\n

\n3. Claims \/Stakeholder Management<\/p>\n
Constantly liaise with administration unit, and other stakeholders to ensure CIS claims are timely paid<\/p>\n

\n4. Reporting<\/p>\n
Ensure that monthly and quarterly performance reports are prepared, and recommendations are made for management decision making.<\/p>\n
Develop monthly financial Performance Analysis Reports with superior recommendations for improved performance and management decision making.<\/p>\n

\n5. Record Retention<\/p>\n
Ensure all accounting documentation is collected and kept securely.<\/p>\n

\nTechnical And Behavioural Attributes\/Core Competences Required:<\/p>\n
A financial services background is an added advantage.
\nExcellent technical skills.
\nStrong internal consulting skills.
\nAbility to work with minimum supervision and as part of a team.
\nBe a persuasive communicator (both written and verbal) with an ability to operate in and communicate at all levels in the organisation.
\nStrong Personal Commitment and execution skills.

\nHighly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications

\nQualifications and Experience<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree \u2013 Accountancy (or related) \/ CIMA\/ACCA\/CA level 2.
\nFull Grade 12 Certificate
\nAt least 2 to 3 years of applied experience in audit and financial Accounting.
\nGood knowledge of customer service practices and principles.
\nProficient in using customer relationship and data management systems.
\nStrong listening, verbal, and written communication skills<\/p>\n
