{"id":7273,"date":"2026-02-06T14:02:08","date_gmt":"2026-02-06T14:02:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/zambia\/job\/finance-officer-at-oxfam\/"},"modified":"2026-05-23T00:14:23","modified_gmt":"2026-05-23T00:14:23","slug":"finance-officer-at-oxfam","status":"expired","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/zambia\/?post_type=job_listing&p=7273","title":{"rendered":"Finance Officer at Oxfam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty.<br \/>\nThe Role:<br \/>\nTHIS IS A SHORT TERM OPPORTUNITY (4 MONTHS)<br \/>\nAVAILABILITY: IMMEDIATELY, LATEST 2ND MARCH 2026<br \/>\nINTERVIEWS: WEEK OF 16TH FEBRUARY 2026<br \/>\nOxfam is looking for a Finance Officer to compliment and support the finance team for a duration of four (4) months, the Finance Officer will\u00a0 undertake specific tasks in support of the finance functions as follows:<br \/>\nMaintain Financial Information System:<\/p>\n<p>Checks accuracy, completeness of supporting documentation and validity of financial data before posting into people soft.<br \/>\nReviews payment vouchers to ensure that correct budget codes are charged, and approvals have been made with appropriate delegated authority.<br \/>\nUpload transactions in the general ledger.<br \/>\nGenerate finance reports \u2013 preparation and timely submission of project financial reports, month end bank and balance sheet reconciliations.<br \/>\nAnalysis Financial data for upward decision making.<\/p>\n<p>Reinforcement of Internal Controls:<\/p>\n<p>Reviews and maintains financial management and internal controls systems in the office to maintain the financial integrity of Oxfam.<br \/>\nEnsures compliance with established Oxfam corporate policies as laid down in the financial policies and procedures manual.<br \/>\nTo assist in coordinating audits for projects.<br \/>\nPreparation and payment of Payroll and other statutory returns.<\/p>\n<p>Partner development and capacity building:<\/p>\n<p>Assist in assessments and identify financial capacity gaps of partners before funding.<br \/>\nAssists in building of capacity of partners in financial management where there are gaps.<br \/>\nWorks with Program Accountant in developing a system of tracking funding to partners expenditures, balances, reports submission and review of internal audit reports to recommend actions.<br \/>\nAssists in reviewing partner financial reports with support of Program accountant &amp; Funding Manager.<br \/>\nAssists in reviewing partner grant budgets and activity plans to ensure compliance with donor requirements and OGB policies and procedures.<\/p>\n<p>Planning, Budgeting and Utilization of Financial Resources:<\/p>\n<p>Assists Program Accountant in the interpretation of budget lines to partners.<br \/>\nSupports the Program Accountant in the Annual budget process, forecasts and in any Budget revision of the project.<br \/>\nPrepares monthly budget variance reports.<br \/>\nAssist in the preparation of project budgets.<br \/>\nOfficial Bank Agent for the Harare office- responsible for banking &amp; cashing of cheques.<br \/>\nPreparation of top up requests for reviewing by Program Accountant and BSM.<br \/>\nTo be responsible for cheque &amp; petty cash payments.<\/p>\n<p>Bank &amp; Cash<\/p>\n<p>To be responsible for banking and banking support.<br \/>\nTo be responsible for cheques.<br \/>\nPetty cash payments and management.<\/p>\n<p>Key Attributes:<\/p>\n<p>Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences and gender issues, as well as the commitment to equal opportunities.<br \/>\nAbility to demonstrate an openness and willingness to learn about the application of gender\/gender mainstreaming, women\u2019s rights, and diversity for all aspects of development work.<br \/>\nCommitment to Oxfam\u2019s safeguarding policies to ensure all people who encounter Oxfam are as safe as possible.<\/p>\n<p>What we are looking for:\u00a0<br \/>\nWe\u2019re looking for a candidate who cares about Oxfam\u2019s mission to end poverty and is personally aligned to our feminist principles and values of empowerment, accountability and inclusion in all you do.<\/p>\n<p>An ideal candidate for the role will also be \/ have:<br \/>\nKnowledge &amp; Experience<\/p>\n<p>Degree in Accounting.<br \/>\nMinimum of 1-2 years practical accounting experience.<br \/>\nProven experience of working in teams and strong inter-personal skills.<br \/>\nExcellent computer skills including spreadsheets (ideally MS Excel) and \u2013word processing (ideally MS Word).<br \/>\nExcellent written\/oral communication &amp; listening skills.<br \/>\nCompetent numerically.<br \/>\nFluent English.<br \/>\nCommitment to Oxfam\u2019s aims and philosophy.<br \/>\nStrong sense of personal integrity.<br \/>\nSelf-confidence, maturity &amp;
