We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Engineering Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer to join our site-based team at one of our mining client\u2019s sites on a six-month fixed-term contract. In this role, you will lead and execute geotechnical investigations that directly support safe and efficient mining operations. The position suits a hands-on professional who enjoys fieldwork, applies strong technical judgment, and thrives in demanding outdoor environments.
\nKey Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Assist in planning and executing site investigations and preliminary assessments.
\nSupervise drilling operations and collect soil, rock, and groundwater samples for geotechnical analysis.
\nConduct test pitting and excavation work to assess subsurface conditions.
\nSupervise and coordinate field activities, ensuring safety and adherence to project specifications. Able to adjust the scope of work to suit the field conditions in line with the objectives of the work
\nLog core samples accurately, documenting geological and geotechnical data.
\nEngage with geotechnical laboratories for appropriate testings, defining programme, costing, deliverables and interpretation thereof.
\nPrepare factual and detailed reports and provide recommendations where required.
\nEnsure compliance with health and safety regulations to promote a safe working environment.
\nCollaborate with hydrogeologists, mine engineers, and other stakeholders to inform design and operational decisions.
\nMaintain accurate records and documentation of all field activities and data collected.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements:<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
\nRelevant engineering geology experience of at least 10 years.
\nProven experience in site investigations within mining or construction environments.
\nKnowledge of drilling techniques, core logging, and geotechnical testing methods.<\/p>\n
