The University is now looking for a self-motivated, suitably qualified individual to fill up the position of\u00a0ICT Support Technician.<br \/>\nPosition Title: ICT Support Technician (x2)<br \/>\nJob Summary<br \/>\nThe University is seeking two proactive and customer-focused ICT Support Technicians to join the ICT team. The role involves providing technical assistance to staff and students, maintaining ICT systems, and ensuring the smooth operation of University platforms. The successful candidates will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving ICT issues, installing and configuring hardware\/software, and supporting core systems such as Moodle (LMS), SRMS, and other institutional applications.<br \/>\nKey Responsibilities<br \/>\n1. Web &amp; Application Support<\/p>\n<p>Support, customize, and maintain university web-based systems (Moodle LMS, SRMS, and related platforms).<br \/>\nApply PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 for front-end customization and troubleshooting.<br \/>\nUse Python or Java for scripting, automation, and integration tasks.<\/p>\n<p>2. Support Database Administration<\/p>\n<p>Maintain SQL\/MySQL\/MariaDB and PostgreSQL databases for Moodle and SRMS.<br \/>\nTroubleshoot database issues, optimize queries, and ensure data security and integrity.<br \/>\nProvide support for MongoDB setups when required.<\/p>\n<p>3. Learning Management System (LMS) Support<\/p>\n<p>Install, configure, and upgrade Moodle instances.<br \/>\nManage plugins, troubleshoot system errors, and support integrations.<br \/>\nProvide user support to lecturers and students on course access, grading, and usage.<\/p>\n<p>4. Student Records Management System (SRMS) Support<\/p>\n<p>Configure SRMS modules, manage users, and generate academic reports.<br \/>\nTroubleshoot application and database-level issues.<br \/>\nEnsure SRMS integration with LMS, banks, HR, finance, and library systems.<\/p>\n<p>5. Support Operating Systems &amp; Server Administration<\/p>\n<p>Manage Windows Server 2022 and Linux servers (Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian).<br \/>\nSupport Active Directory, file sharing, and server services.<br \/>\nMonitor performance, apply patches, and ensure uptime.<\/p>\n<p>6. Networking &amp; Security Support<\/p>\n<p>Provide support for TCP\/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN configuration.<br \/>\nManage firewalls, SSL\/TLS certificates, and system security.<br \/>\nEnforce role-based access control and compliance with FERPA\/GDPR standards.<\/p>\n<p>7. System Integration &amp; API Support<\/p>\n<p>Support REST\/SOAP API integrations between institutional systems (LMS, SRMS, HR, finance,\u00a0banks).<br \/>\nHandle JSON\/XML data for system interoperability.<br \/>\nDocument integration procedures for future reference.<\/p>\n<p>8. Support Version Control &amp; Deployment<\/p>\n<p>Use Git\/GitHub\/GitLab for version control and collaborative development.<br \/>\nSupport CI\/CD pipelines for patches, updates, and deployments.<\/p>\n<p>9. User Support &amp; Training<\/p>\n<p>Provide\u00a0first-line helpdesk support\u00a0to staff and students.<br \/>\nDiagnose and resolve ICT issues across systems.<br \/>\nPrepare technical guides, manuals, and user documentation.<br \/>\nConduct\u00a0training sessions\u00a0for staff and administrators on ICT systems.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications &amp; Requirements<\/p>\n<p>Grade 12 Certificate with Credits or better in English and Mathematics.<br \/>\nDiploma in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Studies or a related field.<br \/>\nBachelor\u2019s degree in the above fields (added advantage).<br \/>\nDiploma holders:\u00a0Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in ICT support or a related role.<br \/>\nDegree holders:\u00a0Minimum of 1 year of proven experience in ICT support or a related role.<br \/>\nFamiliarity with networking protocols and troubleshooting hardware\/software issues.<br \/>\nKnowledge of websites and systems development (advantage).<br \/>\nExcellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.<br \/>\nAbility to prioritize tasks and perform under pressure.<br \/>\nCustomer-focused with a commitment to delivering quality service.<\/p>\n<p>Additional Skills (Advantageous)<\/p>\n<p>Relevant certifications:\u00a0CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician, or equivalent.<br \/>\nProgramming:\u00a0PHP, Python.<br \/>\nDatabases:\u00a0SQL\/MySQL\/MariaDB, PostgreSQL.<br \/>\nCloud:\u00a0AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud experience.<br \/>\nBusiness Intelligence tools:\u00a0Power BI, Tableau.<\/p>\n<p>Sharing is Caring!
