\nPurpose
\nTo ensure safe, effective, and productive oversight of blast hole drilling activities in the surface mining sector by adhering to company policies, management systems, and standard operating procedures, while facilitating technical execution, enhancing operational performance, and fostering ongoing advancements in safety, productivity, and profitability.
\n\u00a0
\nKey Responsibilities
\nHolder of this position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.<\/p>\n
Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of drill workers including requisition of materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
\nSpearhead training of workers in job functions, safety procedures and company policies.
\nEstablish methods to meet work schedules and confer with managerial and technical personnel, other departments and contractors to resolve problems and co-ordinate activities.
\nResolve work challenges and recommend measures to improve productivity.
\nSupport and promote a culture of \u201cSafety & Health above everything else\u201d and environmental responsibility, a positive safety culture with a target of zero incidents and accidents.
\nEnsuring good mobile plant operating practices are adhered to, damages minimized, and drilling operations adhere to set procedures.
\nEnsure good Hand Overs to relieving shift supervisor by updating the log books, handover notes and conducting physical handovers to incoming Shift Supervisor to ensure a continued smooth run of the operations in work areas.
\nEnsure employees\u2019 behaviour in the workplace is to company standards.
\nEnsure relevant stakeholders\u2019 requirement are met by building and maintaining productive internal and external relationships.
\nUnderstands specifications, drawings, and survey staking and being able to translate and communicate this information into the field.
\nPlans for team and individual works and delegates accordingly.
\nProvides effective leadership to build a strong employee culture.
\nResponds to situations and people to ensure best practices are being employed.
\nContributes to the continuous improvement initiatives of the department.
\nEnsures a high level of quality and production standards.
\nEstablishes the most efficient use of resources in order to attain targets\/ goals.
\nReports any problems or unforeseen issues that could affect the plan to the coordinator.
\nEnsures the crews and Area Supervisors have correct information ,tools and equipment to perform their duties.
\nParticipate in recommending or executing personnel actions, such as hiring (interviewing), evaluations, promotions and discipline
\nPerform other reasonable duties as directed by the Supervisor.<\/p>\n
Qualifications<\/p>\n
Grade Twelve (12) Certificate or equivalent
\nCertificate or Diploma in Mining Engineering or Equivalent (a Degree in Mining Engineering will an added advantage)
\nSupervisory Certificate will be an added advantage
\nBlasting License holder
\nFirst Aid certificate holder<\/p>\n

\nExperience<\/p>\n
Minimum 6 years\u2019 experience in an open pit-mining environment.
\nFamiliarity with the use of tools, fixtures and equipment for blasting aids
\nExperience in drilling techniques, equipment, and technologies
\nExperience with ultra-class mining equipment preferred
\nPrior experience in the similar role
\nExperience working with High precision drilling system preferably Wenco<\/p>\n
