That\u2019s how we continue to achieve extraordinary things in extraordinary locations.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nJob description:<br \/>\nTo supervise mine crews, to ensure safety is managed, overall development performance is monitored and efficiency of mine workers engaged in surface mining operations. The position is responsible for continuous in-pit evaluation pertaining to practical compliance to all relevant procedures. In addition, the Shift Supervisor will assist the Production Coordinator in the enforcement of all provisions of Mine regulation (MR 208) in his area of responsibility.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nKey Responsibilities<\/p>\n<p>The incumbent will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.<\/p>\n<p>KPAs<\/p>\n<p>Effectively supervising the management of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) in your area of responsibility.<br \/>\nMeet production targets in accordance with the key performance indicators<br \/>\nCoordinate recourses (people, equipment and material) to ensure work targets are met.<br \/>\nPeople Management and Leadership<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nKPIs<\/p>\n<p>Ensure all Legal appointments in area of responsibility is correctly done in the Logbook<br \/>\nEnsure that all operators and personnel entering your work area are adequately inducted on site safety and operating procedures and systems and that these are complied with.<br \/>\nEnsure fatigue management is complied with.<br \/>\nDo PTO\u2019s.<br \/>\nConduct daily and weekly inspections (Safety packs)<br \/>\nEnsure monthly safety meetings are held.<br \/>\nReport all accidents, incidents or hazards in your area of responsibility to your Supervisor and put preventative measures in place.<br \/>\nParticipate in safety investigations in conjunction with the safety department and implement corrective and preventative controls.<br \/>\nDo all accident and incident investigations and implement corrective and preventative controls.<br \/>\nEnsure compliance with the employer\u2019s legal obligations towards its employees and the conditions under which they are required to work.<\/p>\n<p>Meet production targets in accordance with the key performance indicators<\/p>\n<p>Communicate shift performance to team<br \/>\nTrack team performance and ensure daily issues are dealt with<br \/>\nEnsure the Mine plan is followed. Communicate deviations.<br \/>\nUnder direction ensure mining work is being performed in accordance to the daily line up plan<br \/>\nPlan daily activities to ensure targets are achieved<br \/>\nMine to designs (dig limits, toe pegs, crest pegs, batter boards, ramp designs)<br \/>\nMonitor \/ control idling time, spotting time and cycle times of trucks and diggers.<br \/>\nIdentify problems quickly and take remedial action<br \/>\nLiaise with peers to ensure equipment availability needed to optimize production<br \/>\nEnsure the S\/B and PIC\u2019s have the resources to achieve set goals.<br \/>\nAssist S\/B with problem solving<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nCoordinating.<\/p>\n<p>Deal with daily issues through coaching, training or other development actions.<br \/>\nDo performance appraisals quarterly.<br \/>\nDo probation assessments on new employees.<br \/>\nMeasure performance regularly by means of Assessments<br \/>\nProvide feedback to the team on performance<br \/>\nEnsure performance targets are met<br \/>\nEnsure proper leave planning is done for subordinates<br \/>\nEnsure compliance with HR policies.<br \/>\nMaintain standards and procedures.<br \/>\nIdentify workplace issues and resolve them in a timely manner.<br \/>\nEnsure effective utilization and allocation of equipment.<br \/>\nEnsure the PIC \u2018s &amp; S\/B\u2019s have the resources \/ tools to achieve the targets.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nPeople Management and Leadership<\/p>\n<p>Identify learning gaps<br \/>\nShare information with the team about their future development<br \/>\nCoach people on the job when necessary<br \/>\nFollow through on training given, with discussions and observations<br \/>\nSend people for training when necessary, in order to develop them and ensure you have enough people.<br \/>\nFacilitate team problem-solving with team involved<br \/>\nLeave planning<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nTeam Player<\/p>\n<p>Provide clear direction for his team<br \/>\nShow respect for people<br \/>\nInspire people to perform well<br \/>\nSet a good example for the team<br \/>\nShare information with the team about the department\u2019s purpose<br \/>\nDeliver results<br \/>\nAct with sense of urgency<br \/>\nTake accountability for team performance<br \/>\nTake disciplinary action when necessary (Accidents, Incidents and Absenteeism)<\/p>\n<p>Motivating<\/p>\n<p>Ensure everybody understands what work they need to complete<br \/>\nProvide recognition for good work<br \/>\nBuild team spirit<br \/>\nShow respect and concern for people<br \/>\nProvide coaching and development to improve confidence<br \/>\nAttend to people problems \u2013 which team members may have<br \/>\nHelp people to understand what they need to do in order to be promoted<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nCommunication<\/p>\n<p>Give clear instructions and ensure that it is clearly understood<br \/>\nGive feedback skillfully<br \/>\nExplain implications of policies e.g. safety, health and the environment<br \/>\nPresent visual performance measures and explains trends in data<br \/>\nCompletes paper work and reports and respond to e-mails etc.<br \/>\nEnsure there is understanding from the team in meetings<br \/>\nCheck progress against targets<br \/>\nIdentify shortfalls or bottlenecks and investigate their causes<br \/>\nCollect useful inputs \/ ideas from the team using a flipchart<br \/>\nKeep your Superior informed<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nProblem Solving<\/p>\n<p>Identify potential problems timeously and attempt to understand them<br \/>\nDiscuss issues, with team input, before defining the full extent of a problem<br \/>\nEncourage group creativity in solving bottlenecks or problems<br \/>\nResolve conflict in the team<br \/>\nLiaise with your team in order to determine safer working methods.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nQualifications<\/p>\n<p>Grade 12 Certificate<br \/>\nDiploma in Civil\/Mining Engineering from a recognized institution<br \/>\nDrivers Licence<br \/>\nAll academic qualifications and results must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nExperience<\/p>\n<p>5 years\u2019 relevant experience in mining is required, (preferably 3 year\u2019s supervisory experience)<br \/>\nComfortable working with machines, and mechanically adept<br \/>\nKnowledge of mining rules and regulations<br \/>\nProven track record of supervising and managing people<br \/>\nProven track record of supervising and managing people<\/p>\n<p>Sharing is Caring!
