\nPurpose<\/p>\n
Direct and supervise the direct day-to-day Mechanical Maintenance activities of the Isa Convert Furnace Plant Sections at the Kansanshi Copper Smelter.
\n\u00a0Ensure high Plant availability in an Efficient, Cost Effective and Safe manner as per the set Plant KPIs
\nTake professional charge of an experienced crew of Supervisors and Artisans: guide and mentor them as they carry out their daily scheduled tasks.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Ensure Plant availability and Maintenance compliance according to the Smelter Engineering guidelines.
\nSupervise and Oversee Mechanical Maintenance of all installed mechanical equipment in the Isa Convert Plant
\nUnderstand the daily plant performance, review downtimes and highlight performance records discrepancies to ensure the log-sheets are correct and identify areas of improvement
\nEnsure compliance and adherence to the Preventive Maintenance schedules in line with the Smelter\u2019s maintenance objectives
\nInspect the plant regularly to proactively detect potential problems and recommend the necessary repair or maintenance actions
\nAdhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
\nManage the direct reports to ensure compliance to their roles and responsibilities as well as sound engineering standards and practices.
\nEnsure that good work ethics are sustained by effectively managing discipline with reference to absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc. within the section.
\nMaintain the Isa Convert Furnace and all the associated equipment to ensure they are running at peak performance, paying diligent attention to small details on high priority to keep the plant running at the optimal performance levels and keeping downtimes within the Smelter Engineering guidelines.
\nWork with the Vendors, OEM\u2019s, Peers and Superintendents in the Planning and Execution of the planned equipment Upgrades, Overhauls and new Installations
\nPerform failure analysis to significant breakdowns to prevent recurrence and ensure optimization of company assets.
\nRegularly review and optimize the spares inventory for the Isa Convert Plant to ensure that critical components are always available.
\nWork with the Operations teams and the Smelter Engineering teams in the execution of Major planned works: estimating materials, tools and equipment, consumables, spare parts and manpower.
\nParticipate in Major Smelter Shutdowns as directed and assigned by the Superintendent.
\nEnsure the Safety of Men and Plant Equipment by continuously monitoring and managing the section resources for strict adherence to the relevant Engineering standards, Safe Work Procedures and OEM Specifications, Mining Regulations of Zambia and execute appropriate actions for non-compliance.
\nEnsure that rotatable components are repaired timeously and professionally and made ready for use.
\nChampion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, reduce downtime, and optimise maintenance practices.<\/p>\n

\nQualifications<\/p>\n
Minimum of a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
\nValid Engineering Registration (EIZ or equivalent)
\nAll academic qualifications and results must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).<\/p>\n
Experience<\/p>\n
A minimum of 5 years\u2019 relevant experience in the mining or minerals processing industry at a Supervisory level.
\nDemonstrated capacity in managing a diverse team of artisans (Fitters, Boilermakers, Riggers and Scaffolders)
\nDemonstrated experience in:
\nTroubleshooting and Maintenance of Mechanical Equipment and Systems\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Pumps \u2013 maintenance, repair, diagnostics
\n\u00a0Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems troubleshooting
\nShutdown Planning, Coordination and Execution
\nConveyor belt maintenance and troubleshooting
\nWaste Heat Boiler Maintenance
\nFurnace equipment maintenance of Tapping Blocks, Water Cooled Launders, Tapping Machines will be an added advantage
\nAbility to navigate a Computer Maintenance Management System such as Pronto
\nExperience in Rigging and Scaffolding will be an advantage<\/p>\n
