\nThe Radiation Protection Authority (RPA) is a Regulatory Body under the Ministry of Technology and Science established by the Ionising Radiation Protection Act No. 16 of 2005 and its Amendment Act No. 19 of 2011. RPA\u2019s mandate is to protect the public, workers and the environment from hazards arising from the use of devices or materials capable of producing Ionising Radiation.
\nThe Authority has vacancies in the following positions:

\nJob Objective
\nTo\u00a0oversee and coordinate the implementation of the National Nuclear Energy Programme in order to ensure adherence to national and international standards and contribute to national energy security.
\nPost a Job
\nMain Duties<\/p>\n
Oversees effectively the generation and analysis of literature and input in order to facilitate the formulation, and review of nuclear energy policies and comply with national development objectives and international obligations.<\/p>\n
Oversees and coordinates effectively the development and review of the national nuclear energy strategy in order to guide and coordinate the implementation of the nuclear energy programme.<\/p>\n
Oversees effectively the development and monitoring of the implementation of the Nuclear Energy Infrastructure Framework in order to ensure fit for purpose infrastructure and readiness for implementation of the programme.<\/p>\n
Oversees effectively the development, review and implementation of the national nuclear energy emergency preparedness plan in order to mitigate nuclear risks.<\/p>\n
Oversees effectively the assessment of nuclear energy technologies proposed for adoption in the country in order to facilitate decision making and advancement of appropriate technologies.<\/p>\n
Oversees regularly the monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of nuclear energy programmes in order to assess their impact, appropriateness and compliance with regulations.<\/p>\n
Oversees timely implementation of the performance management system in order to monitor and evaluate performance.<\/p>\n
Manages effectively human resource and utilization of financial resources in order to enhance implementation of programmes and achievement of set objectives.<\/p>\n
Minimum Vocational\/Professional Qualifications<\/p>\n
Full Grade 12\/Form (V) School Certificate
\nBsc. in Nuclear Science or its equivalent
\nMsc. in Nuclear Science or its equivalent<\/p>\n
Minimum Relevant Pre-Job Experience
\nTen (10) years of which 5 should be at management level
\nAttributes and Skills<\/p>\n
Able to write analytical and technical reports<\/p>\n
Able to communicate effectively in English.<\/p>\n
