\nThe Radiation Protection Authority (RPA) is a Regulatory Body under the Ministry of Technology and Science established by the Ionising Radiation Protection Act No. 16 of 2005 and its Amendment Act No. 19 of 2011. RPA\u2019s mandate is to protect the public, workers and the environment from hazards arising from the use of devices or materials capable of producing Ionising Radiation.

\nJob Objective
\nTo Supervise and undertake comprehensive public relations and communication strategies that enhance the institution\u2019s public image, engage key stakeholders, and support organizational objectives.
\nPost a Job
\nMain Duties<\/p>\n
Supervises and undertakes effectively the development, review and implementation of a communication strategy in order to project a positive corporate image of the Institution.<\/p>\n
Undertakes stakeholder and media relations to enhance the Authority\u2019s public image, ensure effective communication with the media, government ministries, and the public, and promote corporate social responsibility initiatives<\/p>\n
Supervises and undertakes timely and accurately preparation of press releases in order to update the public on the operations of the institution.<\/p>\n
Supervises and undertakes timely and accurately preparation of responses to press and public queries or crisis in order to state the Authority\u2019s position on topical issues<\/p>\n
Supervises and undertakes effectively, the consolidation of information in order to facilitate the production of brochures, magazines, newsletters, videos and other materials<\/p>\n
Supervises and undertakes timely organising, storing and retrieving of media reports, videos, publications and magazines\/brochures in order to facilitate efficient storage and retrieval of information.<\/p>\n
Supervises and undertakes effectively the planning and execution of corporate events in order to create awareness on the operations and functions of the Institution<\/p>\n
Supervises and Undertakes effectively implementation of performance management systems in order to monitor and evaluate performance and develop implement appropriate interventions.<\/p>\n
Supervises and Undertakes effectively utilisation of human, financial and other logistical resources order to ensure the attainment of the unit\u2019s objectives<\/p>\n
Minimum Vocational\/Professional Qualifications<\/p>\n
Full Grade 12\/Form (V) School Certificate
\nA Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations, or equivalent.
\nProfessional membership with the Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communication (ZIPRIC)<\/p>\n
Minimum Relevant Pre-Job Experience<\/p>\n
A minimum of\u00a0five (5) years\u00a0of progressive experience in public relations, corporate communications, or media management.
\nDemonstrated experience in media relations, crisis communications, content creation, and digital campaign management.<\/p>\n
Attributes and Skills<\/p>\n
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to draft compelling and clear copy for various formats, including press releases, official statements, speeches, reports, and social media.<\/p>\n
Excellent verbal and presentation skills; ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, from journalists to senior leadership.<\/p>\n
Proficiency in using design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) to create professional social media graphics, infographics, and presentations.<\/p>\n
Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop long-term communication plans that align with institutional goals.<\/p>\n
Analytical & Research Skills: Strong ability to analyze data, track metrics, and derive actionable insights.<\/p>\n
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent at building and maintaining relationships with media, stakeholders, and colleagues.<\/p>\n
Photography & Videography: Competent in capturing high-quality photos and short-form videos, with basic video editing skills.<\/p>\n
