The purpose of this role is to manage the implementation and delivery of large-scale operations or multiple projects, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, cost, time, and compliance requirements. The Senior Superintendent provides leadership across operational, technical, and commercial functions, acting as a critical link between management and site execution teams to ensure efficient and sustainable operations.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Oversee project setup and transition into full operational execution in line with business strategy
\nManage day-to-day site operations including planning, resource allocation, productivity, and performance
\nEnsure effective control of work orders, materials, stock, equipment, and subcontractors
\nDrive operational efficiency and continuous improvement across all activities
\nSupport budgeting, forecasting, and cost control processes
\nProvide input into tendering, contract structuring, and operational planning
\nMonitor financial performance and ensure alignment with budget and contractual obligations
\nEnsure full compliance with company policies, SHEQ standards, and regulatory requirements
\nMaintain awareness of contract terms and applicable legislation impacting operations
\nIdentify operational risks and implement mitigation measures
\nCoordinate with internal departments (HR, Safety, Quality, Finance, Plant, IT, Commercial) to ensure smooth operations
\nMaintain effective\u00a0\u00a0communication\u00a0with management and site teams
\nEngage with clients and external stakeholders to ensure service delivery and relationship management
\nManage operational targets, productivity, quality, and timelines
\nEnsure optimal use of labour, plant, and resources
\nImplement performance monitoring systems and take corrective action where necessary
\nOversee logistics, stock control, and operational planning
\nEstablish and maintain site management systems including reporting, forecasting, and performance tracking
\nConduct data analysis and trend monitoring to support decision-making
\nEnsure timely and accurate reporting to management
\nEnsure implementation of technical and quality standards across operations
\nApply internal and client-specific technical requirements
\nSupport continuous improvement in operational and technical performance<\/p>\n
Requirements
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Qualifications
\nBSc or BTech in Engineering (Mining, Metallurgy, Industrial, Civil, or equivalent)
\nGrade 12 Certificate
\nMembership with Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and ERB (or eligibility)
\n\u00a0Project Management\u00a0or Management qualification (advantageous)
\nExperience
\nMinimum 5 years\u2019 experience in process, production, or mechanical operations
\nMinimum 5 years\u2019 experience in a supervisory\/management role in mining or tailings operations
\nProven experience managing site operations, labour, and plant resources
\nExperience in tailings, reclamation, or contracting environments preferred
\nExperience in project setup and operational execution at Superintendent level or above
\nSkills & Competencies
