\nLumwana Mining Company is seeking to recruit a highly committed individual for the position of\u00a0Training Specialist \u2013 Excavators and Shovels\u00a0to join the versatile\u00a0Learning and Development team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick\u2019s DNA by:<\/p>\n

Reporting to the Coordinator \u2013 Apprenticeship & Graduates, you will be responsible for planning and delivering a structured learning pathway that develops mining apprentices and graduates into competent and safety-conscious excavators & shovels techniques.
\nYour Duties and Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:<\/p>\n
Plan and implement structured training programmes for apprentices and graduates on Heavy Mobile Equipment, ensuring alignment with operational and safety standards.
\nDeliver classroom-based theoretical training on equipment systems, controls, safe operating procedures, traffic management, hazard identification, and emergency response.
\nConduct practical, hands-on training on equipment such as haul trucks including pre-start inspections, safe maneuvering, loading and dumping techniques, and shutdown procedures.
\nCoordinate supervised on-the-job training exposure, ensuring learners operate equipment strictly within their authorized competency and supervision levels.
\nAssess learner competence through written tests, practical field evaluations, simulator assessments (where applicable), and completion of logbooks.
\nMaintain accurate training records, operator authorization matrices, certification status, and refresher schedules within the Learning Management System (LMS).
\nMonitor operator performance and identify skills gaps, recommending refresher training or corrective coaching where necessary.
\nIntegrate incident learnings, near-miss reports, audit findings, and updated procedures into training content to reinforce critical risk controls.
\nLiaise with Mining Supervisors, Maintenance personnel, Safety Officers, and programme coordinators to ensure training supports operational productivity and compliance.
\nEnsure all training materials and assessments are aligned with OEM standards, site procedures, and applicable mining regulations.
\nPerform any other duties assigned by the coordinator.<\/p>\n
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n
Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
\nMinimum Certificate in Excavator and Shovel operations.
\nMinimum Certificate in Teaching Methodology from a recognized learning institution.
\nMinimum 5 years\u2019 work experience in a similar role.
\nExperience in working in mining operations.
\nPlanning and good record keeping.
\nDemonstrated ability to work in a team safely and improve team safety awareness<\/p>\n
