Job purpose<\/p>\n
The Workshop Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and controlling all workshop operations to ensure vehicles, machinery, and equipment are maintained in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective condition. The role focuses on maximizing asset availability, minimizing downtime, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and company standards while leading and developing the workshop team are well represented, well displayed, and consistently available in all assigned modern trade outlets.<\/p>\n

TATA commercial vehicles (TATA 1116, TATA 2518 and similar fleet assets)<\/p>\n
Engine Types & Models:<\/p>\n
Cummins Euro III engines
\nTata diesel engines \u2013 697TC \/ 697TCBSIII series
\nElectric tricycles<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Fleet Maintenance Coordination (Technical Oversight)<\/p>\n
Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance for TATA trucks.
\nTo reduce downtime and increase up time
\nProvide technical support for diagnostics related to:<\/p>\n
Cummins Euro III engines
\nTata 697TC \/ 697TCBSIII engines
\nEV tricycles<\/p>\n
Monitor engine health, breakdown trends and repeat failures.
\nLiaise with workshops and service providers for major repairs and overhauls.
\nCarry out\u00a0preventive and breakdown maintenance\u00a0of electric tricycles.
\nInspect, diagnose, and repair:
\nElectric motors and controllers
\nWiring harnesses, switches, and sensors
\nBraking, suspension, steering, and chassis component
\nPerform routine servicing including lubrication, adjustments, and roadworthiness check<\/p>\n
Spare Parts Inventory & Stores Management<\/p>\n
Manage end-to-end spare parts inventory for fleet maintenance including:<\/p>\n
Engine spares (liners, pistons, bearings, injectors, tricycle spare parts)
\nFilters, belts, hoses, turbo parts
\nClutch, brake, suspension, and electrical components<\/p>\n
Define and control minimum\u2013maximum levels, reorder points, and safety stock.
\nEnsure accurate GRN, issue, stock reconciliation, and physical verification.
\nControl slow-moving, obsolete & non-moving inventory.<\/p>\n
Support\u00a0spare parts identification and consumption tracking\u00a0for electric tricycles.<\/p>\n
Raise spares requirements for:<\/p>\n
Batteries, controllers, motors
\nElectrical components and mechanical consumables<\/p>\n
Vendor Management & Credit Development<\/p>\n
Identify and onboard OEM and aftermarket spare parts vendors for TATA & Cummins engines.
\nNegotiate and increase vendor\u00a0credit limits and credit days (30-90 days).
\nDevelop alternate suppliers to ensure continuity of spares supply.
\nTrack vendor performance on\u00a0price, delivery, quality & credit compliance.<\/p>\n
Procurement & Cost Optimization<\/p>\n
Support procurement planning based on fleet size and consumption trends.
\nMonitor maintenance and spares cost per vehicle \/ per km.<\/p>\n
Records, Reporting & Systems<\/p>\n
Maintain asset-wise records:<\/p>\n
Vehicle registration
\nChassis number
\nEngine number
\nService & spare replacement history<\/p>\n
Prepare monthly reports on:<\/p>\n
Fleet uptime
\nSpares consumption
\nInventory value & ageing
\nVendor credit exposure<\/p>\n
Work with ERP or Excel-based inventory systems.
\nTAT for the vehicles in workshop with job card issue and release date.<\/p>\n
Compliance & Process Improvement<\/p>\n
Ensure compliance with company SOPs.
\nImplement standard store processes for issue control and authorization.
\nRecommend process improvements to reduce downtime and inventory holding cost.<\/p>\n
Key Qualifications & Requirements<\/p>\n
Educational Qualifications<\/p>\n
Diploma or Bachelor\u2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field.
\nTrade certification in automotive\/mechanical maintenance is an added advantage.<\/p>\n
Professional Experience<\/p>\n
7\u201310 years of hands-on experience in a workshop or fleet maintenance environment, with at least 3\u20135 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
\nProven experience managing heavy commercial vehicles, light vehicles, forklifts, and plant equipment (preferably FMCG, logistics, or manufacturing operations).
\nStrong exposure to preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance.<\/p>\n
