\nCOMPLIANCE OFFICER
\nJOB PURPOSE
\nThe Junior Compliance Officer supports the Compliance function in ensuring that the institution complies with the Banking and Financial Services Act, Bank of Zambia directives, AML\/CFT laws, and internal policies applicable to banks and microfinance institutions in Zambia. The role provides entry-level exposure to regulatory compliance, risk management, and financial crime prevention under close supervision.
\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
\nRegulatory Compliance Support<\/p>\n
Assist in monitoring and interpreting regulatory requirements, circulars, and directives issued by the Bank of Zambia (BoZ) and other relevant authorities.
\nSupport the preparation and timely submission of statutory and regulatory returns to BoZ and other regulators.
\nMaintain accurate compliance records, registers, and documentation in line with regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n
Policies & Procedures<\/p>\n
Assist with the implementation and periodic review of compliance policies, procedures, and manuals to ensure alignment with Zambian regulations.
\nSupport dissemination of compliance policies across departments and branches.<\/p>\n
AML\/CTPF & KYC<\/p>\n
Assist in implementing Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Countering Terrorism Financing and Proliferation Financing (CTPF) controls in line with the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) guidelines.
\nSupport customer onboarding through KYC and customer due diligence (CDD) reviews.
\nAssist with ongoing transaction monitoring and flag suspicious or unusual transactions for review.
\nHelp prepare documentation for Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and Cash Transaction Reports (CTRs) for submission to the FIC.<\/p>\n
Compliance Monitoring<\/p>\n
Participate in routine compliance monitoring and branch reviews under supervision.
\nAssist in identifying compliance gaps and documenting findings and corrective actions.
\nFollow up on implementation of agreed remedial actions.<\/p>\n
Training & Awareness<\/p>\n
Support compliance training and awareness programmes for staff.
\nAssist in maintaining training records and compliance attestations.<\/p>\n
Reporting & Governance<\/p>\n
Prepare basic compliance reports and summaries for review by senior compliance staff.
\nSupport internal audits, external audits, and BoZ examinations as required.<\/p>\n
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)<\/p>\n
Accuracy and timeliness of regulatory and compliance documentation
\nCompleteness of AML\/KYC customer files
\nAdherence to BoZ and FIC reporting timelines
\nQuality of compliance monitoring support
\nParticipation in compliance training initiatives<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
\nMinimum Qualifications<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree in Law, Banking & Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
\nMust have ZIALE qualification<\/p>\n
Experience<\/p>\n
0\u20132 years\u2019 experience in compliance, risk, audit, or financial services (internships included).
\nBasic exposure to AML\/ CTPF, KYC, or regulatory reporting is an advantage<\/p>\n
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES<\/p>\n
Basic understanding of the Zambian financial services\u2019 regulatory environment
\nKnowledge of BoZ and Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) requirements
\nStrong attention to detail and organisational skills
\nGood written and verbal communication skills
\nHigh ethical standards and integrity
\nAbility to work under supervision and follow procedures<\/p>\n
