Job Purpose:
\nAs a key member of the process optimization team, the senior process control specialist will be responsible for optimizing the performance of the Sentinel copper supplied concentrator plant. Reporting to the Optimization Superintendent, the senior process control specialist will play a crucial role in identifying improvement opportunities, developing and deploying advanced process control strategies, and integrating AI applications into existing process control functionality.

\nSpecific Job Responsibility:
\nData Analysis and Optimization:<\/p>\n
Perform in-depth data analysis to identify and prioritize opportunities for process improvement.
\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to implement changes aimed at optimizing plant performance and efficiency.<\/p>\n
Control System Development and Tuning:<\/p>\n
Continuously develop, improve, and tune base layer and expert controllers to enhance overall process stability and efficiency.
\nStay abreast of industry advancements and integrate best practices into control strategies.<\/p>\n
Advanced Process Control Strategies:<\/p>\n
Develop and deploy adaptive and advanced process control strategies to optimize key process parameters and ensure consistent product quality.
\nBuild and deploy soft sensors to enhance real-time monitoring of critical process variables.
\nUtilize soft sensor data to improve predictive modeling and proactive decision-making.<\/p>\n
Integration of AI Applications:<\/p>\n
Lead the integration of artificial intelligence applications into process control functionality, enhancing system intelligence and responsiveness.
\nWork closely with IT and automation teams to ensure seamless integration and compatibility.<\/p>\n
Employee Development and Coaching:<\/p>\n
Provide coaching and mentorship to local employees, fostering skill development and knowledge transfer.
\nFacilitate training sessions to ensure the team is proficient in the latest process control technologies and methodologies.<\/p>\n

Deep understanding of metallurgical operations of a high throughput copper concentrator.
\nGood understanding of key process engineering aspects.
\nHigh level understanding of key engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process control).
\nKnowledge of project management best practices.
\nProficient in delivering technical presentations and reports tailored to diverse audiences.
\nSkilled in managing time effectively and consistently meeting targets with deadlines.<\/p>\n

Extensive experience (10+ years) in process control engineering within a copper and nickel sulphide concentrator plant or similar mineral processing environment.
\nProficiency in utilizing advanced control strategies, soft sensors, and AI applications.<\/p>\n

\nQualification:<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Control, or a related field.
\nEligibility for membership of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) and to hold legal appointment as defined by the Mining Regulations of Zambia
\nAll qualifications must be certified by ZAQA<\/p>\n
