The Sector Head \u2013 Agribusiness will provide strategic leadership in positioning Access Bank Zambia as the financial partner of choice for the agribusiness sector. The role drives growth by developing sector-specific strategies, building strong client relationships, and delivering innovative financial solutions that support Zambia\u2019s agricultural transformation. The Sector Head ensures profitability, portfolio quality, and alignment with national food security and economic diversification goals. The role will report to Group Head Corporate Investment Banking.<\/p>\n

What You\u00a0Will Be Responsible For
\nSector Strategy & Market Positioning<\/p>\n
Develop and execute a 5-year agribusiness growth strategy aligned with Access Bank Zambia\u2019s corporate\u00a0objectives.
\nPosition the bank as a leader in financing agriculture,\u00a0agro-processing, and value chain development.
\nIdentify\u00a0emerging opportunities in commercial farming, cooperatives, SMEs, and export-oriented agribusiness.
\nDrive innovation in products tailored to seasonal cycles, commodity financing, and supply chain support.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Business Development & Growth<\/p>\n
Lead acquisition of new agribusiness clients, focusing on high-value accounts and strategic partnerships.
\nExpand the bank\u2019s footprint in rural and semi-urban markets through tailored outreach programs.
\nCross-sell treasury, trade finance, insurance, and digital banking solutions to agribusiness clients.
\nAchieve annual revenue, deposit, and lending targets specific to the agribusiness portfolio.<\/p>\n
Client Relationship Management<\/p>\n
Build long-term partnerships with agribusiness clients, industry associations, and cooperatives.
\nServe as the sector\u2019s trusted advisor, providing financial insights and solutions to support growth.
\nEnsure high client satisfaction through proactive engagement and tailored service delivery.<\/p>\n
Credit & Risk Management<\/p>\n
Develop sector-specific risk frameworks for agriculture financing.
\nConduct in-depth credit analysis considering commodity cycles, weather risks, and supply chain dynamics.
\nMonitor loan performance and ensure asset quality across the agribusiness portfolio.
\nCollaborate with risk and compliance teams to\u00a0maintain\u00a0regulatory adherence.<\/p>\n
Portfolio & Performance Management<\/p>\n
Manage and grow the agribusiness portfolio to maximize profitability and sustainability.
\nTrack KPIs such as revenue contribution, loan recovery rates, and client retention.
\nEnsure balanced growth between large corporates, SMEs, and cooperatives.<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy<\/p>\n
Represent Access Bank Zambia in national agricultural forums, government initiatives, and donor programs.
\nBuild partnerships with ministries, NGOs, and\u00a0development\u00a0finance institutions to expand sector financing.
\nAdvocate for policies that support agricultural finance, sustainability, and innovation.<\/p>\n
Leadership & Team Development<\/p>\n
Lead and mentor the agribusiness team, fostering a culture of performance and innovation.
\nBuild internal capacity through training\u00a0on\u00a0agricultural finance, risk management, and client engagement.
\nCollaborate across departments (Treasury, SME, Retail, Digital) to deliver integrated solutions.<\/p>\n
What You Need\u00a0To\u00a0Have\u00a0(Skills\u00a0& Experience)<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree in agriculture, Agribusiness, Banking, Finance, Economics, or related\u00a0field.
\nAdvanced qualifications (MBA, CFA, ACCA, or agricultural finance certifications)\u00a0preferred.
\nMinimum of\u00a08\u00a0years\u2019 experience in corporate banking, agribusiness finance, or related fields.
\nProven\u00a0track record\u00a0of managing large portfolios and achieving revenue targets.
\nStrong knowledge of agricultural value chains, commodity markets, and risk management frameworks.
\nSuccessful candidate will\u00a0be required\u00a0to provide verified academic qualifications by the Zambia Qualifications authority (ZAQA)<\/p>\n
