Overall, Job Purpose<\/p>\n
Responsible and accountable for providing strata control services and support to the Mining Operations Department to ensure safety and optimal ore extraction. They implement and apply strata control measures within the assigned area of the business.<\/p>\n

\nSpecific Job Responsibility<\/p>\n
Daily pit inspections, data collection, geotechnical core logging and sampling for lab testing
\nConduct slope performance and blasting QAQC audits
\nGathering pit geotechnical data and information through mapping and logging
\nInstallation, maintenance, trouble shooting and management of slope stability monitoring devices as well as
\nIdentifying geological anomalies and impact to mining practices\/conditions
\nIdentifying potential failure modes through observations and modelling software
\nOverseeing and reviewing tasks and activities of the Geotechnical technicians
\nInvestigating slope instability issues
\nInvestigations of fall of ground incidents and compilation of fall of ground report to management
\nCapturing and representing data and information in line with organisational and stakeholder requirements
\nAccurate and timeous reporting of data and information
\nRecommendations on the safety and productivity of the mining environment
\nAdherence to Geotechnical practices and principles
\nAdherence to standardisation requirements, policies, procedures and operating standards related to strata control services and support
\nResolving or escalating operational strata control related queries or breakdowns declared
\nReviewing and analysing effectiveness of operational strata control processes
\nReviewing strata control data and information
\nParticipating in the identification of defects and improvement opportunities
\nImproving strata control processes

At least 2 years\u2019 experience in a hard rock open pit mining environment.

Grade 12 certificate with Maths and Science
\nBlasting Licence may be advantageous
\nSADC Driver\u2019s License
\nBachelor\u2019s Degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering or Civil Engineering<\/p>\n
