Governed through a democratic structure comprising the AGM, National Governing Council, and Secretariat, it works with media, communities and various partners to advance its vision and mission. As part of the regional MISA network across 11 SADC countries, it aligns with the regional vision of a pluralistic and free media. Its 2025\u20132029 strategy is guided by the core values of\u00a0Virtue,\u00a0Innovation,\u00a0Transparency,\u00a0Adaptability and\u00a0Objectivity \u2013VITAO.<br \/>\nIts 2025 to 2029 Strategic plan recognises the fast-paced changing technological trends which are creating new spaces for media and citizens to enjoy their right to freedom of expression. Recognising the importance of the digital world to media freedom and freedom of expression, MISA Zambia\u2019s 2025\u20132029 Strategic Plan VISION is \u201cAn ecosystem that supports resilient media and robust freedom of expression in Zambia\u201d, while our Mission is \u201cTo promote an ecosystem that supports resilient media and freedom of expression in the face of high paced technological advancement through research, capacity building and advocacy in the interest of strengthening democracy, good governance and development that leaves no one behind in Zambia.\u2019\u2019 OUR DEVELOPMENT GOAL is \u201cStrengthened democratic governance and inclusive development in Zambia through empowered media and community-driven communication.\u201d<br \/>\n2.0.\u00a0CALL FOR MEDIA MONITORS (20)<br \/>\nThe Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA Zambia) is strengthening its media monitoring and documentation efforts in identified hotspot provinces. To enhance ongoing tracking of\u00a0online and offline media-related violations, MISA Zambia seeks to recruit and train\u00a020 Media Monitors.<br \/>\n3.0 OBJECTIVE<br \/>\nThe initiative is aimed at promoting\u00a0accountability, ethical media practice, and responsible information dissemination, while ensuring that violations are systematically documented, verified and reported.<br \/>\n4.0\u00a0SCOPE OF WORK<br \/>\nThe media monitors will do the following, among others;<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Monitoring online and offline media content, including radio, television, print, and digital platforms.<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Identifying and documenting cases of misinformation, disinformation, hate speech, unethical reporting, unlawful assembly and other media violations.<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Tracking emerging narratives and trends within the media ecosystem.<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Collecting and preserving evidence (audio, video, screenshots, photographs, and detailed notes).<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Submitting documented cases to MISA Zambia for verification before publication.<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Maintaining regular communication with the central coordination team.<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Participating in training sessions and periodic review or feedback meetings.<br \/>\n5.0\u00a0DELIVERABLES<br \/>\nThe monitors will deliver;<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Incident reports with clear descriptions and supporting evidence.<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Weekly monitoring summaries highlighting key trends and issues.<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Contributions to bi-weekly or monthly mini-reports.<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Well-organized archives of documented cases and supporting materials\/documents.<br \/>\n6.0\u00a0TIMEFRAME<br \/>\nThe monitoring exercise will be carried out from April to December, 2026.<br \/>\n7.0\u00a0INSTITUTIONAL ARRANGEMENTS<br \/>\nMISA Zambia shall be responsible for the coordination of training\/s and other activities under the exercise.<br \/>\n8.0\u00a0CONTACTS<br \/>\nThe coordination of this assignment will be managed by MISA Zambia, Programmes Associate, Mr. James Tembo, who will serve as the focal point for communication, feedback and logistical support.<br \/>\n9.0 QUALIFICATIONS<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Background in Journalism, Media Studies, Communication, Social Sciences or related field.<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Demonstrated interest or experience in media monitoring and\/or research.<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Strong analytical and report writing skills.<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0High level of integrity, objectivity and attention to detail.<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Ability to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision.<br \/>\nThe deadline for receiving applications is April 5th, 2026.<br \/>\nNOTE:<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Priority will be given to MISA Zambia 2026 paid-up members<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Those who are already engaged as media monitors will not be considered<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Applicant must be based in Copperbelt, Northern and North Western Provinces.<br \/>\nSharing is Caring!
