\nJob Title: Assistant Accountant (x2)

\nReports To: Senior Manager Finance
\nBackground
\nThe Energy Regulation Board (ERB) is a statutory body created by the Energy Regulation Act No. 12 of 2019 to regulate Zambia\u2019s energy sector. The ERB is looking to hire qualified and experienced Zambian nationals to fill the position of\u00a0Assistant Accountant to be based at its Head Office in Lusaka and Regional Office (Kasama or Livingstone).<\/p>\n
Job Purpose
\nResponsible for various accounting tasks, ranging from maintaining financial records to providing support to the smooth functioning of accounting department and the overall financial health of the Energy Regulation Board.
\nMain Duties and Responsibilities
\nZambia travel guide<\/p>\n
Monitoring submission of Revenue Returns and payments for energy sector Funds
\nPursue collection of unpaid amounts
\nReconcile debtor accounts and prepare debtor reports
\nConduct revenue compliance audits and prepare reports
\nProcess supplier payments and staff payments
\nPerform supplier reconciliations
\nPerform monthly Bank reconciliations<\/p>\n
Required Skills<\/p>\n
Technical Accounting Knowledge: Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, accounts payable\/receivable.
\nSoftware Proficiency: High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (spreadsheets) and Word and Accounting software packages
\nAnalytical Skills: Ability to analyse financial data, identify trends, detect discrepancies, and perform reconciliations.
\nAttention to Detail & Accuracy: Having a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining accuracy in financial records and a high level of precision for data entry.
\nNumerical Ability: Strong mathematical skills for performing calculations and verifying figures.
\nOrganizational & Time Management Skills: Effectively managing time and ability to prioritise tasks and meet tight deadlines for daily, monthly, or yearly reporting.
\nCommunication Skills and interpersonal skills: Possessing strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders. Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
\nIntegrity and Ethics: High integrity and professionalism, trustworthy and discreet when dealing with confidential information.
\nProblem-solving ability: Demonstrating problem-solving skills to resolve accounting issues or discrepancies.
\nTeamwork and collaboration: Working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals.
\nAdaptability: Being flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and accounting processes.
\nIntegrity and ethics: Maintaining a high level of integrity and adhering to ethical standards in financial practices.<\/p>\n
Minimum Qualifications<\/p>\n
Grade 12 School Certificate (with 5 credits or better) or equivalent
\nA diploma in Accountancy or equivalent accounting qualification or part qualified ACCA\/ CIMA
\nA degree in Accountancy and or Full ACCA\/ CIMA, ZICA (CA) will be an added advantage
\nPaid up Member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
\nAt least two (2) years post qualifying work experience in a Finance department
\nVerification of all qualifications by ZAQA is required<\/p>\n
