\nThe Role in Context<\/p>\n
GreenCo is seeking a motivated Customer Operations Engineer to support operational engagement with electricity off\u2011takers and ZESCO. The role works closely with the Operations Officer and Trading team to ensure reliable power supply, smooth customer interfaces, accurate operational data, and effective coordination of grid\u2011related activities.
\nThis role is well\u2011suited to a technically grounded professional who is\u00a0hands\u2011on, communicative, customer\u2011focused, and keen to develop deeper\u00a0exposure to power system operations, metering, and grid coordination within Zambia\u2019s electricity sector.

\nKey Duties:
\n1. Customer Interface & Operational Support<\/p>\n
Support day\u2011to\u2011day engagement with electricity off\u2011takers and IPPs under guidance of senior team members.
\nAct as a first point of contact for routine customer operational queries, escalating complex issues where required.
\nAssist in coordinating responses to customer\u2011reported outages, interruptions, or metering queries.
\nMaintain clear and professional communication with customers regarding outages, planned works, and follow\u2011ups.<\/p>\n
2.\u00a0Grid Coordination & ZESCO Liaison<\/p>\n
Support liaison with ZESCO field teams, control centres, and commercial offices.
\nAssist with coordination of planned outages, energisation activities, and fault follow\u2011ups.
\nMaintain records of ZESCO interactions, outage timelines, and operational correspondence.<\/p>\n
3.\u00a0Outage Management & Reliability Monitoring<\/p>\n
Support on\u2011ground and desk\u2011based coordination during faults and planned outages.
\nLog outage events, response times, and restoration details accurately.
\nEscalate delays or recurring issues to senior team members.<\/p>\n
4. Load Monitoring & Operational Data Support<\/p>\n
Assist with monitoring customer load profiles and consumption trends.
\nSupport alignment of customer forecasts with GreenCo\u2019s trading and nomination processes.
\nHelp compile operational data inputs for internal reporting and analysis.<\/p>\n
5. Metering & Technical Support<\/p>\n
Support coordination of customer metering installations, checks, and validations with ZESCO.
\nAssist in investigating metering discrepancies and data gaps.
\nHelp maintain accurate records for settlements and billing support.<\/p>\n
5.\u00a0New Customer Onboarding Support<\/p>\n
Assist with technical onboarding of new customer sites, including Power Quality assessment and power infrastructure audits.
\nSupport energisation processes and operational handovers.<\/p>\n
6. Reporting, Administration & Communication<\/p>\n
Maintain organised logs of outages, customer communications, and grid events.
\nPrepare draft operational updates, customer summaries, and internal briefing notes.
\nSupport preparation of operational reports, KPIs, and lessons\u2011learned documentation.<\/p>\n

\nQualifications and Experience:<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s Degree in\u00a0Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
\n1 \u2013 3 years\u2019 experience\u00a0in power systems, utilities, industrial energy operations, or a related technical environment.
\nBasic familiarity with\u00a0ZESCO transmission and distribution systems\u00a0(e.g. substations, feeders, switching). Exposure to metering systems, substations, or grid operations is an advantage.
\nWillingness to travel and work flexibly in support of operational needs.<\/p>\n
Skills and Competencies<\/p>\n
Strong communication and customer\u2011facing skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
\nGood interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with utilities, customers, and internal teams.
\nStrong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate operational records.
\nAnalytical mindset with interest in power system operations and energy markets.
\nProactive, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast\u2011moving operational environment.

\nTime Commitment
\nThis is a full-time role. While the standard working week is 40 hours, the ideal candidate must be willing to work flexible hours to achieve GreenCo\u2019s business objectives.
