\nThe Company Seeks the Services of\u00a0Safety Officer\u00a0x\u00a020
\nJob Purpose
\nThe Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:<\/p>\n
Promote Occupational Health and Safety within the organization and enforce safer and healthier ways of working.
\nFacilitate risk assessment process on routine and non-routine activities in his\/her are of responsibility.
\nConduct safety inspection on equipment, to ensure they meet safety regulations.
\nConduct safety inspections and audits to ensure that workplaces conform with organizational procedures and safety standards as per key performance indicators.
\nWork with all levels of supervision, and other professionals to ensure the safety of workplace conditions and practices.
\nEnforce compliance with personal protective equipment usage in workplaces according to regulations.
\nEnsure that personnel are aware of, and comply with all legislation relating to duty of care, workplace activities and the use of plant, equipment and substances.
\nRecord and report, injuries and occupational illnesses arising from workplace activities.
\nFacilitate investigation of accidents and unsafe working conditions, analyse possible causes, recommend and enforce remedial action.
\nConduct training awareness sessions for supervisors and workers on health and safety practices and legislation.
\nAssist, participate and enforce coordination of emergency procedures.
\nCommunicate frequently with management to report on the status of occupational health and safety programs\/initiatives.
\nEnforce occupational health and safety systems, including policies, procedures and manuals.
\nFacilitate Field Safety leadership (FSL) within his\/her respective area of responsibility.
\nCo-ordinate and participate as a resource in Health, Safety & Environment Committee meetings.<\/p>\n
To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:<\/p>\n
Grade 12 Certificate.
\nMinimum of a Diploma in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment or equivalent.
\nAt least 2 years\u2019 practical experience in a similar field (preferably in the mining industry).
\nMust be conversant with ISO 45001:2018 Standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management.
\nValid Unrestricted Zambian Blasting Licence for all mining operations.
\nMust be a member of the Zambia Occupational Health and Safety Association (ZOHSA).
\nAll academic qualifications should be verified and certified by Zambia Qualifications Authority.<\/p>\n
The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and Corporate objectives.
