\nJob Purpose
\nThe Chief Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the hotel\u2019s financial activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Take charge of overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of the hotel, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Provide leadership to the accounting team, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, and Purchasing functions.

\nSummary of Key Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Develop and implement financial plans, budgets, and forecasts. Monitor financial performance, produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
\nLead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
\nPrepare and review monthly management accounts.
\nMaintain and manage a comprehensive month-end checklist.
\nReview all journal entries, including payroll journals, prior to approval by the Financial Controller.
\nPrepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses to support decision-making and strategic planning.
\nCoordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory agencies to facilitate audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
\nPrepare audit schedules and resolve audit queries.
\nMonitor cash flow, liquidity, and financial performance metrics to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
\nProvide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to senior management to support business decisions and initiatives.
\nManage the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, and payroll processing.
\nImprove cash collections and manage supplier relationships.
\nEnsure compliance with accounting and tax regulations. Coordinate external audits and prepare required financial statements.
\nMonitor cost controls and make recommendations for cost-saving opportunities. Analyze profitability and provide financial insight to the management team.
\nManage a team of junior accountants, providing guidance, support, and feedback. Ensure the team\u2019s work is accurate, timely, and meets the hotel\u2019s standards.
\nOversee the implementation of accounting and financial software systems. Ensure integration with other operational systems.
\nParticipate in the development and implementation of the company\u2019s strategic plans.
\nProvide financial analysis and recommendations to support business decisions.
\nAssist the Financial Controller in developing and implementing controls
\nIdentifying issues with accounting processes or procedures that could lead to future errors or misinterpretations of data<\/p>\n

Qualifications and Experience<\/p>\n
Degree in Accounting or Finance
\nFull professional qualification either ZICA, ACCA or CIMA
\nProven experience as a Chief Accountant or similar role, with a minimum of 5\u20137 years of experience in accounting and financial management in the hospitality sector\u00a0
\nWorking as Senior Accountant for a 4- or 5- star hotel will be an added advantage
\nMust have proven supervisory experience
\nStrong background in accounting principles, financial management, and leadership
\nStrong understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulations (e.g., GAAP, IFRS)
\nAbility to communicate complex financial concepts effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
\nProficiency in accounting software and financial management tools.
\nIntegrity and professionalism in handling confidential financial information.
\nMust be a member of ZICA<\/p>\n
