Its main mandate is to provide quality higher education programmes to both local and international students.<\/p>\n<p>The University invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill in the vacancy of Principal (equivalent to Vice Chancellor)<br \/>\nPosition: University College Principal<br \/>\nJob Purpose<br \/>\nThe University College Principal will serve as the Chief Executive and Academic Officer who will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, overseeing academic and administrative operations, ensuring the effective implementation of the University College\u2019s vision, mission, strategic priorities, influencing internal stakeholders and external partners while promoting academic excellence, financial sustainability, and institutional growth.<br \/>\nJob seeker tools<\/p>\n<p>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:<br \/>\nStrategic Leadership and Institutional Development<\/p>\n<p>Spearhead the development, implementation and monitoring of the University Strategy and policies.<br \/>\nProvide visionary leadership and strategic direction to advance the University College\u2019s vision, mission, short term and long term institutional goals.<br \/>\nPromote institutional growth through academic expansion, innovation, and strategic initiatives.<br \/>\nDrive a high-performance culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across all operational and academics functions.<br \/>\nEnsure alignment of university activities with national higher education priorities and global academic trends.<\/p>\n<p>Academic Excellence, Leadership and Quality Assurance<\/p>\n<p>Promote and maintain high standards in teaching, learning and research<br \/>\nEnsure academic programs meet regulatory and accreditation standards<br \/>\nPromote curriculum development and programme innovation to meet national and international academic standards<br \/>\nSupport academic staff in research, publication, and scholarly activities.<br \/>\nEnsure the effective functioning of academic governance structures, including Senate and faculty boards.<br \/>\nChampion initiatives aimed at improving student success, retention, and academic excellence.<br \/>\nPromote student welfare, engagement for academic success<\/p>\n<p>Financial oversight and Accountability<\/p>\n<p>Manage the University\u2019s financial planning, budgeting process.<br \/>\nOversee the financial management and sustainability of the University.<br \/>\nLead initiatives for resource mobilization, fundraising, and income generation.<br \/>\nEnsure efficient allocation and utilization of institutional resources.<br \/>\nPromote strategic investments in academic infrastructure, technology, and learning resources.<\/p>\n<p>Governance and Compliance<\/p>\n<p>Provide overall leadership for the academic, administrative, and operational functions of the University.<br \/>\nImplement policies and directives approved by the University Council \/ Board.<br \/>\nDirect and monitor reporting on legislative and statutory compliance as defined in the Higher\u00a0\u00a0Education\u00a0Authority legal framework and other statutes<br \/>\nEnsure effective collaboration between academic and administrative units.<br \/>\nPromote transparency, accountability, and good governance practices in institutional management.<\/p>\n<p>Human Resource management and development<\/p>\n<p>Lead in the recruitment, retention and development of academic and administrative staff<br \/>\nEnsure effective performance management and leadership development among senior staff.<br \/>\nFoster a positive institutional work culture<\/p>\n<p>Public Relations and Partnerships<\/p>\n<p>Represent the University in local national, regional, and international academic and professional forums.<br \/>\nBuild and Strengthen partnerships with government institutions, industry, professional bodies, and Academic networks.<br \/>\nPromote the University\u2019s reputation through strategic stakeholder engagement and institutional branding.<br \/>\nPromote a student-centred academic environment that supports learning, innovation, and personal development.<\/p>\n<p>QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE<\/p>\n<p>Minimum PhD from a recognised and accredited institution<br \/>\nRecognised academic achievements (such as publications and research Leadership)<br \/>\nMinimum of 5 years of academic experience in higher education, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role (deputy vice chancellor, Dean or equivalent).<br \/>\nStrong understanding of higher education governance, policy frameworks, and quality assurance systems.<\/p>\n<p>Skills and Key Competences<\/p>\n<p>Visionary and strategic leadership<br \/>\nHigh ethical standards and Strong institutional management and governance skills<br \/>\nFinancial acumen and Effective communication and writing skills<br \/>\nHigh level of
