\nACCOUNTANT
\nJob Purpose
\nReporting to the Finance Manager, the Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the financial health and sustainability of OYDC Zambia through effective management of day\u2011to\u2011day financial operations, accounting systems, and financial controls. The role provides accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting to support decision\u2011making by the Board, management, and stakeholders, while ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, donor requirements, and recognised accounting standards.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Manage and monitor day\u2011to\u2011day financial operations, including payroll, invoicing, payments and other financial transactions.
\nPrepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, statements and forecasts.
\nLead the preparation, monitoring, and control of annual budgets, including recurrent and capital expenditure.
\nTrack and analyse OYDC\u2019s financial performance, identifying risks, variances and opportunities for improvement.
\nEnsure compliance with statutory requirements, donor funding regulations, accounting standards, and OYDC policies.
\nOversee and support finance staff, including finance assistants and accounting personnel.
\nCoordinate external services such as auditors, tax consultants, banks, and investment advisors when required.
\nProvide financial analysis, guidance, and recommendations to senior management to support strategic and operational decision\u2011making.
\nMaintain and update financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
\nPresent financial reports and updates to the Board, management, stakeholders, and partners.
\nEnsure effective use of accounting systems and financial software, keeping abreast of technological developments.<\/p>\n
Qualifications, Experience & Skills<\/p>\n
Full ACCA, CIMA, CA Zambia\/ZICA, or a Degree in Accountancy.<\/p>\n
Must be a member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).<\/p>\n
Minimum of 4 \u2013 6 years\u2019 relevant experience in financial management, accounting, and reporting.<\/p>\n
Proven experience managing donor\u2011funded projects and grants, including compliance with multiple funding partners.<\/p>\n
Experience in budgeting, forecasting, audits, and statutory reporting, preferably within an NGO, sports organisation, or development environment.
\nZambia market insights<\/p>\n
Strong financial management, accounting, and analytical skills.<\/p>\n
Proven ability to interpret financial data and provide clear, actionable insights.<\/p>\n
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.<\/p>\n
High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.<\/p>\n
Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships across teams.<\/p>\n
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.<\/p>\n
