ROLE DESCRIPTION
\nClinical Officers are responsible for the delivery of\u00a0 high standards of medical care, together with excellent customer service at our health facilities.\u00a0 They work closely with other multidisciplinary clinicians to provide comprehensive health care services for patients and their families.
\nClinical Officers are expected to carry out their duties consistently, ethically and in line with international standards and evidence based medical practices.
\nEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n
Diploma in Clinical General Sciences
\nMust be registered and licensed with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).
\nExperience in Emergency Medicine is an advantage.
\nMust have at least 3 \u2013 5 years\u00a0 experience post internship.<\/p>\n
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
\nMedical Service Delivery
\nActively participate in the efficient provision of medical services at the clinic by adhering to international best practice guidelines. This is with a special focus on non communicable diseases (eg: Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Sickle Cell Disease, Malignancies)
\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES Clinic and Administrative Duties and Reporting
\nMedical Service Delivery:<\/p>\n
Ensure Best Practice by treating patients according to standard treatment guidelines (MBHS guidelines, Zambia National Treatment Guidelines, and\u00a0 WHO Treatment Guidelines)
\nSchedule patient follow up
\nEnsure that patients are appropriately investigated.
\nWork with other clinicians to ensure comprehensive patient care
\nConsult if unsure about patient management
\nAdhere to MBHS Medical Service Policy
\nAdhere to the Patient\u2019s Rights Charter.
\nJudicious pharmaceutical utilization, especially adhering to the restrictions on antimicrobial prescribing for Clinical Officers at MBHS.<\/p>\n
Medical Governance\/ Technical Support<\/p>\n
Actively participate in the Clinical Governance meetings held monthly in order to review clinical audit results, incident reports, medication errors, near misses, clinical training programs etc.
\nBe able to offer support to other staff members at work to ensure\u00a0 efficiency in service delivery
\nActively participate in in-house training programs
\nOffer suggestions to the Chief Medical Officer\/ Clinic manager of some of the training programs that can bring about staff development.
\nBe able to adjust and adapt to changes in the field of clinical practice, and stay up to date with latest developments in clinical medicine.<\/p>\n
Awareness of the established channels of communication at the institution.
\nReport to Chief Medical Officer\/ Clinic Manager on any administrative or clinical issues..
\nEnsure all notifiable diseases are brought to the attention of the CMO..
\nAdhering to\u00a0 working hours as indicated in the employee\u2019s contract.
\nDress\u00a0 in a presentable and professional manner (as per the MBHS uniform policy)<\/p>\n
Customer service<\/p>\n
Exhibits professional conduct at all times towards patients\/clients and staff members
\nNot engaging in personal confrontations with patients, but seek Management\u2019s assistance to resolve grievances.
\nNot engaging in any social conduct that brings the name of the company to disrepute.
\nUndergo in-house training in good customer service
\nThere will be no tolerance for unprofessional behavior ( i:e bullying patients, rudeness,\u00a0 yelling, etc<\/p>\n
Health and Safety (H&S)<\/p>\n
Ensure health and safety standards are adhered at all times and all staff attend the H&S training.<\/p>\n
PROFESSIONAL<\/p>\n
Previous experience working in a clinic\/hospital in a senior administrative, or clinical role for at least three\u00a0 years is essential.
\nMust have good administrative skills.
\nMust be able to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
\nPossess the ability\u00a0 to work independently and efficiently, paying careful attention to detail, and being able to\u00a0 multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
\nCompetency in effective communication skills.
\nComputer literate in Microsoft \u2018Word\u2019 and Microsoft \u2018Excel\u2019.<\/p>\n
GENERAL<\/p>\n
Adherence to the MBHS Uniform Policy and Code of Conduct.
\nMay be required to travel to other MBHS facilities as directed by the Chief Medical Officer\/Hospital Manager.
\nMust be honest, trustworthy and act with integrity at all times.
\nNo consumption of alcohol is allowed whilst on duty. Intake of alcohol while off duty is allowed but inebriation on duty will eventuate in an immediate dismissal.<\/p>\n
QUALITY MANAGEMENT<\/p>\n
Proficient in managing infection control procedures.
\nPromote a culture that is committed to learning from complaints, incidents, audits, research and development.<\/p>\n
