ABOUT TIMBUKTU
\nTimbuktu is an independent solar energy company delivering commercial and industrial PV and storage projects across Zambia and the region. We design and build systems that work \u2014 reliably, safely, and on time. Our team is small, technically serious, and growing.
\nTHE ROLE
\nWe need an experienced Electrical Engineer who has grown into \u2014 or is ready to step fully into \u2014 a project and operations management role. You understand how solar projects are built, you can read a design and spot a problem, and you know how to run a team that is spread across multiple sites.
\nThis role is the link between the technical work and the business outcome. You will manage project delivery, coordinate field teams, manage subcontractors, handle client relationships, and ensure that what we promise gets built correctly and on time.
\nWHAT YOU WILL DO<\/p>\n
Lead the delivery of solar PV and storage projects from contract signature through to final handover
\nPlan and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation across concurrent projects
\nManage and coordinate field teams, local subcontractors, and specialist vendors
\nHold regular site visits to monitor quality, progress, and safety compliance
\nAct as the primary client point of contact during project execution
\nReview and approve designs, submittals, and technical documentation
\nIdentify and manage variation orders, delays, and commercial risks
\nReport project status to senior management clearly and on time
\nContribute to operational procedures, team training, and continuous improvement
\nTravel to project sites across Zambia and the region regularly<\/p>\n
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR<\/p>\n
Degree in Electrical Engineering (B ENG or equivalent)
\n5\u201315 years of experience, with at least 3 years in a project management or site leadership role
\nSolid technical background in solar PV, power systems, or electrical construction \u2014 you can have a credible technical conversation and you know when something is wrong
\nProven ability to manage teams, subcontractors, and client relationships simultaneously
\nStrong commercial awareness \u2014 you understand contracts, variations, and project cost control
\nClear communicator: written reports, client meetings, and site briefings all need to land
\nOrganised under pressure \u2014 multiple projects, competing priorities, imperfect information
\nValid driver\u2019s licence<\/p>\n
Experience in Sub-Saharan Africa is a genuine advantage here. We are open to all nationalities. English is the working language.

\nWORKING ARRANGEMENTS<\/p>\n
Based in Lusaka with regular travel to sites (domestic and regional)
\nFull-time, permanent position
\nStandard working hours \u2014 with the reality that active projects set their own schedule<\/p>\n
