\nJob Purpose
\nThe Logistics Manager will manage the entire fleet for the group. Be responsible for ensuring that transport is available to meet the scheduled delivery and scheduling to be in accordance to supply chain rules. In order to meet the current and future needs of the customer, the Manager will continuously identify scope and implement improvements to delivery of product to the customer at the most efficient mode of transport and at optimum cost.<\/p>\n
Summary of Key Responsibilities;<\/p>\n
Responsible for selecting and maintaining Trucks in order to keep deliveries and distributions on schedule and within their established budget
\nEnsure appropriate route planning is applied making delivery rounds
\nas efficient as possible whilst considering the requirements of the
\ncustomer.
\nEnsure legal compliance is adhered to with regard to transport and driver regulations. E.g. licence checks & load weight
\nPlanning routes and load scheduling for multi-drop deliveries.
\nOrganise, lead, and participate in Regional Logistics Meetings including the local transport committee.
\nManage logistics operations including all logistics assets in order to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of organization cargoes.
\nEnsure vehicle accident reporting and investigation process is adhered to and appropriate actions are taken.
\nEnsure all transporter vehicles are serviced according to Transport and Logistics advisory standards.
\nIdentify, mobilize resources, implement, and report on special logistics operations.
\nEnsure that accurate and complete accounting, reporting, and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained.
\nAllocating and recording resources and movements on the transport planning system.
\nBooking sub-contractors and ensuring they deliver within agreed terms.
\nRecord shipment data such as weight, charges, and damages
\nBe
\npart of the negotiation on behalf of the company in liaison with the
\nprocurement department for raw materials and transport of finished
\nproducts from the company
\nManage the relationship with key transport suppliers \u2013 road and rail
\nRectify problems such as damages, shortages, and non-conformance to specifications
\nDocument and escalate any customer service issues and\/or shipping\/receiving errors
\nManagement of GPS trackers to monitor where the Trucks are and drivers\u2019 habits.
\nMonitor operations to ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, union contracts, and government regulations.
\nPromote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings, and meeting with individual staff members.
\nMaking ensure that the trucks are not overloaded and they are in road-worthy condition
\nEnsuring that authorized vehicles will be kept at the authorized operating centers or resting Sites when not in use.
\nEnsure effective commodity management and quality control.
\nEnsure adequate logistics preparedness through contingency planning and continuous logistics preparedness reviews.
\nTake the lead in managing relations with local and regional transportation companies
\nCoordinate logistics operations with other organizations in the area.
\nManage the organization\u2019s field fleet security arrangements and coordinate any evacuations.<\/p>\n

Qualifications and Experience<\/p>\n
Degree in Transport and Logistics, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or Business Administration,
\nProfessional qualification in Clearing and Forwarding will be a plus
\nMust have at least a\u00a0minimum of 7+years of working experience in Transport and Logistics Operations preferably within the automotive industry at a Management or Senior Level
\nProven experience and strong understanding of Zambian customs, RTSA and vehicle registration processes
\nMust have a minimum of 3-4 years proven experience in clearing and forwarding\u00a0
\nEvidence of good interpersonal and persuasive skills
\nProven experience in the use GPS trackers
\nExperience of working in a multinational corporate environment is an added advantage
\nMust be an active member of ZCILT<\/p>\n
