\nMain Purpose of Job:
\n\u2022\u00a0The primary purpose of the Lecturer in Transport and Logistics is to provide high-quality instruction and academic leadership within the department. The successful candidates will be responsible for preparing students for the complexities of global supply chains, fleet management, and strategic distribution. They will contribute to the university\u2019s mission through rigorous teaching, research, and the development of innovative logistics solutions that serve the national economy.
\nKey Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Teaching and Curriculum Development:\u00a0Deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions in Transport Management, Supply Chain, and Freight Operations. Develop and update course materials to reflect current industry trends.
\nResearch and Innovation:\u00a0Conduct original research in logistics and transport systems, aiming for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
\nAssessment:\u00a0Prepare, administer, and grade examinations, assignments, and practical assessments to evaluate student progress accurately.
\nStudent Mentorship:\u00a0Supervise student research projects, internships, and provide career guidance within the logistics sector.
\nCommunity Engagement:\u00a0Collaborate with industry partners to facilitate industrial attachments and community-based transport initiatives.<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Experience:<\/p>\n
Grade 12 school certificate with five (5) credits or better including English and Mathematics.
\nMinimum of a\u00a0Bachelor\u2019s Degree\u00a0in a relevant field with a Merit or better.
\nMaster\u2019s Degree\u00a0in Transport and Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field will be an added advantage).
\nAt least\u00a03 to 5 years\u00a0of teaching experience at the tertiary level or senior industry experience in a logistics environment.
\nValid membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., CILT).<\/p>\n
Lecturers \u2013 Clearing and Forwarding (2)\u00a0
\nMain Purpose of Job:
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The Lecturer in Clearing and Forwarding will specialize in the technical and legal aspects of international trade, customs procedures, and documentation. Their role is to equip students with the practical skills required to navigate cross-border trade regulations, tariff classifications, and freight forwarding operations effectively.
\nKey Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Instructional Delivery:\u00a0Teach specialized modules including Customs Legislation, International Trade Documentation, Incoterms, and Port Operations.
\nPractical Training:\u00a0Facilitate hands-on training in customs clearing software and the preparation of bill of entry\/laden documents.
\nAcademic Support:\u00a0Assist in the development of departmental workshops and seminars focused on evolving trade laws and maritime regulations.
\nQuality Assurance:\u00a0Ensure all teaching and assessment methods comply with university standards and national regulatory frameworks.
\nIndustry Liaison:\u00a0Maintain active links with customs authorities and forwarding agencies to ensure the curriculum remains industry-relevant.<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Experience:<\/p>\n

\nMinimum of a Bachelor\u2019s Degree\u00a0in International Trade, Logistics, or a related field with a focus on Clearing and Forwarding.
\nMaster\u2019s Degree\u00a0in International Trade, Logistics, or a related field with a focus on Clearing and Forwarding.
\nProfessional Certification in Customs Clearing and Freight Forwarding is highly desirable.
\nAt least\u00a03 years\u00a0of teaching experience or significant professional experience in a Clearing and Forwarding firm.
\nRegistration with a relevant professional body.<\/p>\n
