To facilitate rapid deployment of high-quality surge capacity and flexible funding tailored to the specific needs and capacities of our responses, thereby maximizing impact. To build the capacity of humanitarian responders, empowering them with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively address humanitarian challenges.<br \/>\nRole purpose<br \/>\nThe role is to provide context-specific strategic analysis to support humanitarian decision-makers at all levels of the organization (country, regional, and global), in particular at times of significant contextual change. To do so, the Humanitarian Strategic Analyst monitors geopolitical events, identifies strategic issues critical to the organization\u2019s operations and position, and engages with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to gather, curate and convey strategic insights. The role holder is involved in key processes where building a shared understanding of the complexity of Save the Children\u2019s operating environment is critical, from risk assessments to informing preparedness and business continuity plans, humanitarian advocacy strategies, and humanitarian policy-making. For a full list of locations that Save the Children International can hire in, please visit:\u00a0SCI Careers<br \/>\nTime Zone\u00a0(that the role holder\u00a0must\u00a0be available to work in):\u00a0Africa region time zones (UTC\u221201:00 to UTC+04:00)<br \/>\nRight to Work: The successful candidate must possess the unrestricted right to work in an approved SCI location in Africa for the duration of the employment.\u00a0<br \/>\nFor a full list of locations that Save the Children International can hire in, please visit:\u00a0SCI Careers<br \/>\nLanguage Requirements:\u00a0English &amp;\u00a0French\u00a0<br \/>\nInternational Travel Requirements:\u00a0Yes,\u00a0up to 40%<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nPrincipal Accountabilities<br \/>\nCountry-facing (in the absence of a dedicated CO Analyst, upon request, and pending availability):<\/p>\n<p>Conduct and deliver context and foresight analysis (e.g., situational analysis, conflict analysis, trend analysis, scenario analysis, stakeholder analysis) to support humanitarian decision-makers.<br \/>\nDevelop scenarios and support scenario-based planning to inform response decision-making.<br \/>\nProvide capacity building to CO and partners on risk identification, risk monitoring methodology, and scenario building.<br \/>\nSupport key internal processes with bespoke analysis (e.g., risk analysis to inform the development or update of a CO\u2019s Emergency Preparedness Plans).<br \/>\nContribute to the integration of conflict-sensitive approaches, tools, and methods in proposal writing, programme implementation and reporting.<\/p>\n<p>Movement-facing (aligned with global humanitarian priorities and SCI\u2019s global strategy):<\/p>\n<p>Collaborate across Programme Delivery Team and beyond to identify and address key contextual information gaps, ensuring integration of comprehensive contextual data and intelligence into strategic planning and operational responses.<br \/>\nContribute specialised regional and national content to global reports, highlighting key trends and context-specific characteristics.<br \/>\nSupport humanitarian advocacy initiatives and strategies by offering up-to-date insights and thorough contextual analysis on ongoing and emerging crises.<br \/>\nSupport the external representation\u00a0 of senior executives (e.g., Regional Directors)<br \/>\nPrepare and facilitate internal context-focused discussions (CAFU Caf\u00e9).<\/p>\n<p>External-facing:<\/p>\n<p>Contribute to the IASC Early Warning and Risk Analysis Group.<br \/>\nEngage with CAFU\u2019s external partners on specific contexts or themes.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nExperience and Skills<br \/>\nEssential<\/p>\n<p>Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis to extract actionable insights.<br \/>\nStrong ability to question, synthesize, and present complex information clearly and concisely.<br \/>\nSound understanding of geopolitical dynamics (at international, national, and sub-national levels) and their interplay with humanitarian needs and practices.<br \/>\nExpertise in supporting risk assessments and providing foresight analysis for strategic decision-making, particularly in areas of conflict.<br \/>\nExceptional written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey strategic insights to diverse audiences (internal teams and external stakeholders), with fluency in English and French,<br \/>\nAbility to craft strategic recommendations covering a range of operational scenarios to support preparedness efforts and anticipatory strategies within a humanitarian framework.<br \/>\nExcellent skills in collaboration, networking, and relationship-building with diverse stakeholders (including I\/LNGOS, UN agencies, academia).<br \/>\nExperience in delivering analytical products with short turn around and supporting the development of strategies with timely contextual insights on major or emerging crises.<br \/>\nSignificant professional experience of working in humanitarian sector with a focus on crisis contexts and conflict-sensitive programming.<br \/>\nCommitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with adherence to organizational values and humanitarian principles.<\/p>\n<p>Desirable<\/p>\n<p>Additional language of Arabic or Spanish preferred<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nEducation and Qualifications\u00a0<br \/>\nEssential<br \/>\nA degree in Political Science, International Relations, Conflict Studies, or a related field.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nWorking at Save the Children\u202fInternational<br \/>\nSave the Children\u202fis the world\u2019s leading organisation for children, employing ~25,000\u202fstaff.\u202fWe save children\u2019s lives.
