In Zambia alone, we reach over 700,000 children every school day in 1,574 schools across 17 districts (15 Eastern Province and 2 in Northern Province).<\/p>\n
We are now recruiting for a\u00a0Finance Officer\u00a0to join our team in Zambia. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in managing financial records, ensuring compliance, supporting budgeting processes, and contributing to financial reporting to help sustain and expand the impact of Mary\u2019s Meals Zambia.

\nYou will support sound financial stewardship by managing day\u2011to\u2011day accounting activities, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with donor, organizational, and statutory requirements. You\u2019ll oversee payments, monitor budgets, support financial reporting, and work closely with program teams to ensure funds are used efficiently and transparently in support of our mission and the communities we serve.
\nResponsibilities<\/p>\n
Remittance of employee statutory deductions to the respective authorities before deadlines
\nPreparing payments, receipts and being the organization\u2019s bank agent
\nEnsuring that cashbooks are updated daily into the accounting system
\nAct as the organization\u2019s petty cash custodian who ensures that all petty cash payments are made following laid down procedures.
\nPreparing the project advances register and ensures it reconciles to the general ledger
\nSupporting the Finance Manager in preparing for audits and year end procedures
\nAsset verification
\nReconciliation of trial balance accounts
\nPreparation of bank reconciliations
\nAny other ad hoc duties as required<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
A post Secondary School in CA application Level, CIMA II, CA II or Equivalent
\nAt least 2 years practical experience in accounting and office administration., preferably within a nonprofit organization
\nMembership of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA)
\nStrong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards
\nProficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
\nExcellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record keeping
\nGood organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
\nStrong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
