That\u2019s how we continue to achieve extraordinary things in extraordinary locations.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nJob description:<br \/>\nThis role is responsible for planning, supervising, and executing all fabrication and welding activities at the Fabrication Workshop, Central Workshops, while providing support across all site areas as required. The role ensures effective delivery of cutting, grinding, and welding services for the fabrication and repair of mining structures and components. It drives efficiency by minimising material wastage and rework, while maximising planned replacements and repairs during installations. The incumbent also maintains a clean, safe, and compliant working environment in line with site standards.<br \/>\nThe specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include.<\/p>\n<p>Delegate and coordinate daily work activities for the fabrication team to ensure efficient operations.<br \/>\nEnsure adherence to safety, quality, and production standards within the work area.<br \/>\nMonitor work in progress, manage shop schedules, and enforce quality control measures.<br \/>\nEnsure all fabricated equipment meets company and industry quality standards.<br \/>\nManage employee performance, employee relations, and disciplinary matters in line with company policies and procedures.<br \/>\nControl and monitor stock levels of materials and consumables, including gases, and ensure timely replenishment.<br \/>\nEnsure compliance with EIZ and mine regulatory requirements, including accurate maintenance of logbooks.<br \/>\nSupport continuous skills development within the team, including organising and implementing mentoring programmes for new or less experienced fabricators.<br \/>\nPerform any other duties as assigned by the Coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>Perform any other duties as assigned by the Coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>Job Specific Competencies<\/p>\n<p>Have a knowledge of weld standards (AWS D1.1\/AWS D14.3\/AS-NZS 1554 Pt 1) and relevant acceptance criteria<br \/>\nHave a good knowledge in multiple weld processes SMAW (MMA), GMAW (MIG\/MAG), TIGW (TIG).<br \/>\nBe able to understand and read Engineering and Fabrication drawings.<br \/>\nMust have worked with PRONTO<br \/>\nHave a high level of fabrication Skills.<br \/>\nBe able to produce fabrication drawings for the shop floor.<br \/>\nHave adequate experience with fabrication equipment e.g. Guillotine, break press, all forms of cutting and gouging.<br \/>\nHave a knowledge of lifting and rigging.<br \/>\nBe aware of all safety rule and regulations.<br \/>\nAn understanding of NDT processes.<br \/>\nWell-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in English.<br \/>\nKnowledge and understanding of diverse third world cultures and customs an advantage.<\/p>\n<p>Job Attributes<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrates a high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all interactions.<br \/>\nStrong organizational, time management, and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.<br \/>\nSound judgment with the ability to make timely, rational decisions in a demanding work environment.<br \/>\nEffective communication skills, with the ability to engage clearly and professionally with supervisors, peers, and team members.<br \/>\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with high attention to detail and accuracy.<br \/>\nProven ability to lead and manage a team in a technically challenging and remote environment.<br \/>\nTeam-oriented, with the ability to collaborate and support others to achieve shared goals.<br \/>\nCommitted to achieving and exceeding maintenance, operational, and safety targets.<br \/>\nKnowledge and understanding of diverse cultures and working environments is an added advantage.<\/p>\n<p>Experience required to perform in this job<\/p>\n<p>A minimum of 5 years\u2019 experience in custom metal fabrication.<br \/>\nAt least 2 year in a senior supervisory role.<br \/>\nDemonstrated leadership and supervisory capability, with strong organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills.<br \/>\nAbility to meet demanding deadlines while maintaining efficiency and cost-effectiveness.<br \/>\nProficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel.<br \/>\nAbility to read and interpret blueprints and engineering fabrication drawings.<br \/>\nStrong practical knowledge and application of welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Cored welding.<br \/>\nAbility to recommend appropriate fabrication procedures for specific jobs and provide clear technical guidance to teams.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications<\/p>\n<p>Must have Grade 12 Certificate with 5 O `levels<br \/>\nMinimum fabrication craft certificate<br \/>\nSupervisory or Leadership qualification (e.g., Business Administration, Leadership) \u2013 added advantage<br \/>\nMust have a coding certificate in welding<br \/>\nMust have a valid driver\u2019s licence<br \/>\nMember of EIZ<\/p>\n<p>Sharing is Caring!
