\nOverall Job Purpose<\/p>\n
The Sports and Events Coordinator will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of sports programmes, leagues, tournaments, and events particularly in communities around the mine.
\nHe\/she will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of all events and sports-related activities, fostering a positive and inclusive environment for the community and other participants, and promoting the organisation\u2019s mission and values.<\/p>\n

\nSpecific Job Responsibility
\nProgramme Planning and Development:<\/p>\n
Develop and implement sports programmes, leagues, and events based on community needs and interests.
\nCollaborate with stakeholders to identify programme goals, objectives, and target demographics.
\nResearch and evaluate new sports activities and trends to enhance community participation.
\nManage and help develop various clubs, inclusive of equipment, coaching \/ training, nutrition, local- and international participation.
\nActively work with the Events and Sports coordinator consultant.<\/p>\n
Participant Recruitment and Engagement:<\/p>\n
Promote sports programmes and events through various marketing and outreach channels.
\nRecruit participants, teams, and volunteers for leagues, tournaments, and special events.
\nProvide excellent customer service to participants, addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and professional manner.<\/p>\n
Community Participation and Outreach:<\/p>\n
Establish and maintain partnerships with local schools, community centres, and other organisations to increase participation and access to events and sports programmes.
\nOrganise community outreach events, clinics, and workshops to introduce sports activities to surrounding communities and promote healthy lifestyles.
\nCollaborate with community leaders and stakeholders to identify barriers to participation and develop strategies to address them.<\/p>\n
Logistics and Operations Management:<\/p>\n
Coordinate facility bookings, equipment rentals, and other logistical arrangements for sports and events activities.
\nOversee the scheduling of games, practices, and events, ensuring efficient use of resources and facilities.
\nSupervise staff, referees, coaches and volunteers during programme sessions and events, providing guidance and support as needed.<\/p>\n
Safety and Risk Management:<\/p>\n
Implement and enforce safety protocols, rules, and regulations to ensure the well-being of the community, participants and staff.
\nConduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify and address any safety hazards or maintenance issues.
\nRespond to emergencies and incidents in accordance with established protocols and procedures.<\/p>\n
Financial Management:<\/p>\n
Develop and manage budgets, tracking expenses and revenues to ensure financial sustainability.
\nExplore funding opportunities, sponsorships, and partnerships to support sports programmes and events.
\nMonitor programme performance and provide regular reports and updates to the necessary stakeholders.
\nWork closely with the Events and Sports Consultant to plan, implement, and improve sports programmes and events.<\/p>\n

\nExperience required to perform in this job<\/p>\n
At least 5 years\u2019 relevant work experience in sports coordination, event management, or community-based programmes within a reputable organisation, with proficiency in MS Office Suite; familiarity with event management systems, scheduling tools, and inventory\/equipment tracking systems is an added advantage.
\nAbility to lead, coordinate, and motivate teams, including coaches, referees, and volunteers.
\nExperience in community engagement and stakeholder management, particularly with schools, local organisations, and community groups.
\nFamiliarity with sports or club management systems\/software is an added advantage<\/p>\n
Education
\n\u00a0
\nQualifications<\/p>\n
Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
\nDiploma or \u00a0Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Sports Management, Event Management, Physical\u00a0\u00a0Education, or Business Administration.
\nAll qualifications must be certified by ZAQA<\/p>\n
