\nSector Head \u2013 Mining
\nReporting Line:\u00a0Head Corporate BankingLocation:\u00a0Copperbelt Region<\/p>\n
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
\n1. Business Development<\/p>\n
Drive client acquisition and management of existing Mining sector relationships in line with the Bank\u2019s strategy to achieve quality business growth.
\nMaintain, grow, and reactivate relationships with key mining clients to improve deposit mobilization and loan portfolio growth.
\nIdentify and develop new business opportunities within the mining value chain, including contractors, suppliers, and associated industries.
\nConduct market research and competitor analysis within the mining sector to inform business strategies and enhance market share.
\nDrive synergy between Corporate Banking, Business Banking, Trade Finance, and Treasury to maximize revenue opportunities from mining clients.
\nEnsure value chain opportunities within the mining ecosystem are fully leveraged in collaboration with internal business units.
\nDevelop periodic sector performance reports for presentation to management.<\/p>\n
2. Product Management<\/p>\n
Provide strategic direction to product teams to develop and deliver tailored financial solutions for the mining sector.
\nIdentify gaps in current product offerings and recommend innovative solutions to meet evolving mining client needs.
\nSupport the development of structured finance solutions to enhance client relationships and profitability.
\nAdvise the Head Corporate Banking on emerging opportunities within the mining sector and propose commercially viable strategies.
\nPromote cross-selling of the Bank\u2019s products including trade finance, cash management, and treasury solutions.<\/p>\n
3. Strategy & Networking<\/p>\n
Develop and implement a comprehensive Mining Sector Strategy aligned with the Bank\u2019s overall Corporate Banking objectives.
\nBuild and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders including mining corporates, regulators, and industry associations.
\nRepresent the Bank in mining industry forums, conferences, and engagements to enhance visibility and positioning.
\nEnhance client retention by acting as a key point of contact and delivering high-quality relationship management.
\nKeep abreast of local and international developments in the mining industry and assess their impact on the Bank\u2019s portfolio.
\nMonitor and ensure achievement of sector targets and strategic objectives.<\/p>\n
4. Risk Management & Compliance<\/p>\n
Ensure the mining portfolio operates within the Bank\u2019s risk appetite and regulatory framework.
\nConduct credit analysis, client verification, and appraisal of mining-related transactions in line with Bank policies.
\nAct as the first line of defense in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks within the mining portfolio.
\nEnsure adherence to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards in all mining sector engagements.
\nMonitor portfolio quality and implement corrective actions to manage non-performing assets.
\nEnsure compliance with internal policies, credit procedures, and regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n
5. Portfolio Management & Reporting<\/p>\n
Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the mining portfolio.
\nMonitor portfolio performance and ensure achievement of revenue, profitability, and growth targets.
\nConduct periodic reviews of client relationships to identify growth and optimization opportunities.
\nPrepare and present sector performance reports to the Head Corporate Banking and senior management.
\nEnsure efficient cost management and optimal utilization of resources within the sector.<\/p>\n
KPIs<\/p>\n
Achieve approved Profit Before Tax (PBT) targets for the Mining sector.
\nGrowth in loan book, deposits, and non-funded income from mining clients.
\nPortfolio quality within acceptable risk thresholds.
\nIncrease in client acquisition and retention within the sector.
\nSuccessful execution of Mining sector strategy.
\nCompliance with regulatory and ESG requirements.<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
\nEducation<\/p>\n
Minimum of a first degree in a business-related field from a recognized University with at least a Credit or better.
\nGrade Twelve Certificate with at least Five (05) Credits or better, including Mathematics and English.
\nZAQA verified certificates.<\/p>\n
Professional Certifications<\/p>\n
Professional certifications in Credit Analysis or Banking (added advantage).
\nMining sector knowledge or certification (added advantage).<\/p>\n
Experience<\/p>\n
Minimum 8+ years\u2019 experience in banking or financial services.
\nProven experience in relationship management at a senior level.
\nExposure to credit appraisal, development finance, and mining sector dynamics.
\nKnowledge of Zambia\u2019s mining regulatory framework and ESG standards.<\/p>\n
