{"id":8511,"date":"2026-05-19T10:00:20","date_gmt":"2026-05-19T10:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/zambia\/job\/chief-financial-officer-at-kapasa-makasa-university\/"},"modified":"2026-05-19T10:00:48","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T10:00:48","slug":"chief-financial-officer-at-kapasa-makasa-university","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/zambia\/job\/chief-financial-officer-at-kapasa-makasa-university\/","title":{"rendered":"Chief Financial Officer at Kapasa Makasa University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JOB OPPORTUNITY<br \/>\nThe Council of Kapasa Makasa University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Chief Financial Officer.<br \/>\nAccountability:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\nUnder the general direction of the Registrar, the Chief Finanical Officer is responsible for financial planning, budgetary control, maintenance and monitoring of internal systems of control, accounting and stores\u2019 staff supervision and motivation and general administration of the finances and assets of the Univesity in such a manner as to attain compliance\u00a0with the required financial standards and statutory obligations.<br \/>\nThe Chief Finanical Officer is responsible for:<br \/>\n(i)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Preparing and monitoring budgets and cash flows of overall income and expenditures of the university.<br \/>\n(ii)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Initiating strategic planning of the resource allocation to various Schools, Units and Departments.<br \/>\n(iii)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Ensuring completeness, accuracy and validity of university financial information and safeguard of the university assets.<br \/>\n(iv)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Providing timely quarterly and audited annual financial reports to Management and Council in order to support and enhance transparency in financial decision making.<br \/>\n(v)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Advising Management on trends in expenditures and income to ensure that financial decisions are in line with budget allocations, expenditure and income<br \/>\n(vi)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Ensuring security of transaction documents and eforcing accountability of personnel supervised.<br \/>\n(vii)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Advising Management on potential third-stream revenue generating activities to ensure financial sustainability.<br \/>\n(viii)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Undertaking such duties as are assinged by Management or Council.<br \/>\nQualifcations and personal Attributes<br \/>\nThe Univesity Council seeks an individual with the following qualifications<br \/>\n(i)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Grade 12 Certificate with a 5 \u201cO\u201d levels.<br \/>\n(ii)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0ACCA, IPFA, ICIMA\/\/CIMA and ZICA Membership.<br \/>\n(iii)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Bachelor of Accountancy degree, from a recognised higher education institution, provided such candidate possesses at least six (6) years of relevant practicing experience in accounts and financial management at senior level.<br \/>\n(iv)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Track record of successfully supervising a large workforce of accounting staff at different levels of professional development.<br \/>\n(v)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Knowledge and experience of a computerised accounting system is a must.<br \/>\n(vi)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Not less than 35 years of age<br \/>\n(vii)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A high level of maturity, energy, drive and initiative<br \/>\n(viii)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Emotional stability to balance the requirements of different stakeholders of the univeristy.<br \/>\nTenure<br \/>\nThe appointment of the Chief Finanical Officer shall be for a period of three (3) years but shall be eligible for re-appointment for a further term of three (3) years upon satisfactory performance evaluation. A mandatory three month probation period is applicable.<br \/>\nRemuneration<br \/>\nA competitive remuneration package shall be offered to the successful candidate.<br \/>\nSharing is Caring!
