Reporting to the Environmental Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring full implementation of the environmental monitoring and measurement programme in line with the environmental management systems, In accordance with national requirements and best practice standards.
\nYour duties will include but are not limited to the following:<\/p>\n
Ensure organisational compliance with applicable environmental legislation, regulatory requirements, and permit conditions.
\nDevelop, implement, and continuously improve Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and compliance frameworks.
\nOversee the effective implementation and maintenance of the Environmental Data Management System to support monitoring and measurement activities.
\nCoordinate potable water and environmental water monitoring programmes in accordance with Environmental Management Plan (EMP) commitments.
\nEnsure compliance with Barrick Environmental Standards, including Water Conservation and Incident Reporting & Investigation protocols.
\nMaintain and manage water analysis databases, ensuring data integrity, timely updates, trend analysis, and preparation of comprehensive monitoring reports.
\nReview, implement, and maintain the site Water Management Plan.
\nLead the implementation and maintenance of the site-wide water balance system, ensuring ongoing calibration, accuracy, and regular updates as custodian of the process.
\nEnsure the upkeep and continuous improvement of environmental monitoring plans and measurement systems.
\nMonitor, audit, and report on environmental performance, proactively identifying risks, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
\nProvide accurate environmental data for the preparation and submission of statutory reports to regulatory authorities and key stakeholders.
\nConduct environmental inspections, internal audits, and compliance assessments to ensure operational adherence to environmental obligations.
\nMaintain accurate environmental monitoring records, documentation, and databases in accordance with compliance and reporting requirements.
\nProvide technical guidance, support, and training to employees and contractors on environmental monitoring and measurement requirements.
\nReview projects and operational activities to identify environmental risks, compliance gaps, and mitigation opportunities.
\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen environmental systems and ensure alignment with recognised standards such as ISO 14001.<\/p>\n
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Full Grade 12 Certificate.\u00a0
\nBachelor\u2019s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental\u00a0\u00a0Science, Mine Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
\nMinimum of five (5) years\u2019 direct experience in environmental management, including at least three (3) years within an industrial or mining environment with demonstrated experience engaging with regulatory authorities.
\nProven experience in the implementation and management of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and environmental data management databases.
\nStrong background in environmental data collection, analysis, management, and statistical interpretation.
\nDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively within demanding operational environments.
\nExcellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
\nAdvanced computer literacy, including proficiency in spreadsheet applications, presentation software, and environmental or GIS\/mapping software.<\/p>\n
