\nPurpose
\n\u00a0
\nTo gather and interpret geological data about the Kansanshi copper deposit for the purpose of increasing understanding through RC drilling operations.
\nKey Responsibilities
\nThe holder of this position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

\nRC Grade Control Program<\/p>\n
Implementation, interpretation and reporting of RC drilling activities.
\nCoordinate sampling and compliance to protocols.
\nGeological chip logging, QA\/QC, data collection and management for RC drilling activities.
\nSupervision of field assistants, technicians and team leaders.
\nSupervision of drilling contractor.
\nDaily and monthly reporting.
\nUndertaking in geological project work related to RC drilling activities as directed by the Senior Mine Geologist.
\nA strong commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
\nManage RC drilling programmes that will delineate an array of complex geological features in the Kansanshi deposit.
\nLiaise with Senior mine geologist to evaluate current drill pattern design and ensure they remain practical, given increased geological knowledge and changes to ore domains in the deposit.
\nEnsure all drilling and sampling works are carried out in the safest possible manner.
\nManage the drilling contractors and ensure drilling contractor (s) conform to quality and safety, standards as stipulated in the drilling contract.
\nManage the flow of sample data from the pit through to the lab and into the database.
\nLiaise with the data base administrator to ensure that data is accurate and stored securely.
\nCoordinate QA\/QC programs, highlight and resolve accuracy and precision issues with the onsite laboratory.
\nContinued development of global best practice sampling standards and procedure.
\nOther duties as directed by the Senior Mine Geologist.<\/p>\n

\nProduction<\/p>\n
Verification\/validation\u00a0of grade control ore mark outs in the field.
\nLiaise with Shift Engineers\/Plant to ensure ore quality parameters are being achieved, recoveries are within stipulated boundaries and optimum ore blending strategies are being achieved.
\nManage a large team of field technicians.
\nMonitor ROM and Long-term stockpile inventories.
\nDaily and end of month reporting.<\/p>\n
Qualifications<\/p>\n
Minimum of a Full Grade 12 certificate
\nBachelor of Science (Geology) or Bachelor\u2019s degree plus Honours in Geology, Mining Geology or equivalent<\/p>\n
Experience
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
A minimum of 2 \u2013 5 years relevant experience in grade control and production Geology.<\/p>\n

\nExposure to dust, heat, noise and chemicals
\nUnderstanding and ability to conduct and report on Industrial Hygiene requirements.
\nAbility to work and effectively communicate with various levels of management and Mines Safety Department personnel.
\nFirm understanding of geological systems and processes and how they integrate with mining production and mineral resource management; grade control experience is a must.
\nGood working knowledge of technical software (Surpac, Datamine or Mapinfo\/ Leap Frog 3D).
\nKnowledge of LIMS systems would be advantageous.
\nStrong verbal and written\u00a0\u00a0communication\u00a0skills in English.
\nAn eye for detail and the ability to identify opportunities for improvement.
\nAble to work in a dynamic team environment.
