About Lupane State University Lupane State University Vacancies Lupane State University The university was established through an act of the Zimbabwe parliament in 2004 and opened its doors to 14 pioneer students in the faculty of Agricultural Sciences in August 2005. The expansion of university education in Zimbabwe is part of government policy adopted at the onset of independence.
Job Description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the following posts.
Duties and Responsibilities
Providing legal services and expert legal advice on matters relating to Universitydecisions, policies and plans. Undertaking contract risk analysis. Drafting and vetting contracts, agreements and other legal documents. Managing legal matters, disputes, litigation and claims within the University. Providing a comprehensive advisory service on the regulatory framework governingUniversity operations. Providing legal opinions, negotiating contracts and other legal documentation. Overseeing debt recovery processes. Liaising with external legal advisors on behalf of the University and coordinatingassignments referred to external legal counsel. Ensuring legal and regulatory compliance by the University. Acting as a source of legal advice to University Business Units on matters relating torelevant legislation and regulations. Overseeing administrative responsibilities for the smooth running of the legal function,including periodic reporting. Maintaining a library of contract precedents. Performing any other duties as may be assigned by Superiors from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications and Experience Applicants must be in possession of a minimum of a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) orequivalent qualification. A Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Business Leadership will be anadded advantage, and candidates who are currently studying towards a Master’s degreeare also encouraged to apply. The successful candidate should possess sound knowledge of legal and commercial law,demonstrate strong understanding of legal processes, and have experience working in alegal environment. In addition, applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years’ hands-on experience inhandling corporate secretarial matters. Candidates must also be members of a recognised professional body in Zimbabwe with atleast two (2) years’ post-qualification experience. Preference will be given to applicants with university or higher education institutionexperience.
